The Islamic world stretches from Papua New Guinea in the east to the Atlantic Ocean in the west, and from Zanzibar at south to central Russia and the Balkans at the north.

However, throughout history, The number of Islamic countries did not exceed the number of fingers of one hand, Often there were two large islamic states, one control most of the Asian section of the Muslim world, And the other control most of the African Section of the Islamic world

Nowadays, What hinders the establishment of united Islamic entity or at least Several islamic entities, Certainly there are significant differences between the Islamic countries In terms of area, population, economy, Political, wealth and poverty, development . . etc. But these differences Found in most of the current economic entities Like the European Union.

So what is the real reasons that hinder the establishment of Islamic unity?

Who bears responsibility for that, Muslim peoples or governments of Islamic countries?

I request all brothers to contribute to the effective and frank discussion to identify the different points of view

Leaders on Uncle Sam payroll none other than the Arabs themselves. Once in a while they will engage in an staged act of defiance to stir up some hooplas but at the very core they have been puppet generations over generations..

. .
simple- Islamic ummah is only a paper concet- there is no homogenity across the various countries due to different histories, backgrounds, ethnicity and then there is the question of national interests which always outweigh anything else.

I mean, ask yourselfm what do Pakistanis, Sudanese, Arabs, Indonesians, Uighurs and tajiks have in common with each other?

What about other countries such as Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Indonesia ? What prevents them from establishing unity among them ?

They have one faith and one religion, and do not forget they are all in one day, had one Khalifah They refer to.

They have the same feelings and emotions that unite them, Have you seen the reaction of Muslims to the cartoons of the Prophet (PBUH) ?

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims When Israel was shelling Gaza ?

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims During the Russian war on Chechnya?

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims During the massacres of Bosnian people ?

What about Kashmir, doesn't seem to figure as much as other regions, does it.

While we have fought physically and diplomatically for other Muslim countries, not many Muslim countries have gave us their outright support for the problems that we face. What has been given is nonsense lip service which is just for appeasing certain disenchanted group within our country.

Remember, unity is based on mutual respect and unequivocal help for each other. We seemed to have done a lot for our Muslim friends but not really got anything substantial in return.

Similarly, ever since Bhutto ushered the Pan-Islamic era within Pakistan, we have suffered from magnified problems relating to extremism, sectarianism and intolerance amongst others.

You can keep your unity, thanks but no thanks.

What came from it? was it a united action or independant fringe groups just heckling and screaming hoarse.

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims When Israel was shelling Gaza ?

remind me again- what did KSA and Malysia do when this happened- or what did Mongolia or Indonesia do?

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims During the Russian war on Chechnya

as above

Have you seen the reaction of Muslims During the massacres of Bosnian people

ditto

bottom line- most of the time, it is just Pakistanis who are vocal and upfront about these issues. the rest of the so called Umah does not seem to subscribe to these views or have more pressing things to take care of.......

To expect unity just coz a group of ppl belong to a common religion is a little much.

Please do not misinterpret what I as I write as flame but with all due respect when have the Muslims been united that one expects them to unite today ? A community that cannot decide on when the moon has been sighted can hardly be expected to agree on other earthy issues.

A look at Mughal history shows that fathers were always apprehensive of their sons whom they sent away to distant places like Lahore, Bengal & Deccan and placed spies on them.Sons in turn has spied in their fathers courts. Similarly, brothers feared each other more than anyone else. Sons could not wait for their fathers to die to inherit the throne. Aurangzeb imprisoned his father who died gazing at the Taj Mahal.

Apply this to nations. There is an old adage “ Think Globally but act locally’. Nations & leaders are responsible for their own people first and then those of their religion who live in other nations. It is not unfair of them to feel thus.
Even while traveling in a plane the air crew cautions us that “ in event of sudden drop in cabin pressure apply the face mask upon yourself first & then to your child” because if you get incapacitated who will help the child?

Besides your parents there can be no one who shall care for you selflessly. Similarly , what you & I can feel for Pakistan & India respectively, a Sri lankan or BanglaDeshi will obviously not & should not be expected to either his priority shall always remain his own country.

Egypt cut a deal with Israel on the side , Saddam over ran Kuwait, Iran fought Iraq all because they put their own interest first. I may help my neighbors son in Math but would never do it at the cost of my own son.

Lastly, why does one expect help form another just coz we pray to same god? Do we follow all what the God tell us to do ? for if we did we would not have attacked each other.

lack of leadership

2. Lack of own governing system. as almost all of the Muslim countries have imported half-baked system of governance where everything is confused carrying flaws, not conforming to the local needs

I think the main problem are the rulers. If the gulf countries can not unite then there is little hope for any one else. They have the same culture,0 the same language , the same economy. I mean they are same in everything but still they are not able to unite.
Iran is between Pakistan and Turkey which will always be blockade.
Egypt, Jordan, Sudan...... They can show some sort of unity if they want.
Central Asian states can do a bit with the help of turkey.
North Africans namely Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria libya.

This could be the only way. The countries with similar historic and cultural back grounds may form a small coalition. hizbul tahrir Idea is as good as science fiction.

Too much Islam.

Seriously. Muslims are too focussed on Islam, their particular brand of Islam, which inevitably leads to focus on the differences rather than the commonalities.

The Europeans are united precisely because most of them are not religious, so the Protestants and the Anglicans and the Catholics and the Eastern Orthodox Christians do not get up in arms about their version of Christianity.

.
Islam can be used as a uniting force if the Arabs agree that Islamic unity does not give defacto free ticket to Arab imperialism and it will not elaborate arab position by any means. The biggest hindrance in Islamic unity is arab bigots..sorry for the hard words but this is reality.

Yes, united in expressing anger, but have they ever been united in a common goal for the betterment of each other?

Also, the same question can be asked of Christianity? Why isn't it that the Christian nations of the world don't unite into one behemoth nation?

The reason is that if people don't want to live with each other, and tolerate each other, it wont happen. Thats why despite having SO much in common, western Europe is not a single nation.

Religion can increase similarities, but the ethnic, cultural and linguistic differences can only be overcome by a desire to live together peacefully. Thats why heterogenous nations like USA and India exist, but an Islamic ummah does not. Blaming the leaders alone is not enough. Be more analytical in your approach and you will find that while muslims over the world will have a soft corner for each other, they do not have a desire to be a single nation. The nations which are well off dont want the poor ones dragging them down.

Of course, my brother, These were some examples and you can add to them as well Mindanao in the Philippines and Patani in Thailand . . . etc
