Iran may cancel $7bn gas pipeline deal with Pakistan: Iranian media

Iranian gas is expensive..recently they had to re-negotiate gas deal with Turkey..but Iranians consider Pakistani as inferior so they will not accecpt to renegotiate..and in return we will not complete the pipe line! Qatari gas is cheaper...! Iranians can come up with a competitive bid and until pipe line is not completed they can deliver gas by LNG ship...recently Pakistan floated a tender for supply of LNG and some western companies won the bid..it clearly means the Iranians are not competitive enough...



The empty truck returning doubles the logistic cost..pipe lines are the cheapest...!



Economic releations cannot be one way..Iran also has state backing of smuggling into Pakistan via Sistan-Balochistan border which badly hurting our local manufacturers..in flea markets of Balochistan everything iranian form soap and fertilizer to motor oils can be found...

Even expensive than LNG we getting from Qatar ?

There are other extremist people which want to drag us in stone age, keeping mismanagement on one side ., zardari gave all powers to parliament, and he made history to complete 1st term and peaceful transition of power to others. Remember, it is PPPP that is consistant in policy against stone age taliban and other extremists even they gave sacrifices, on other hand imran khan and Nawaz has not consistent policy against terrorists. China is getting enough gas from Kazakhstan to Western China already so I don't find a reason why they will be interested to import gas from Iran but I do get it if you talk about oil pipeline to China.

I firmy believe sooner or later it will happen. Chinese oil imports will continue to rise and the pipeline between Gwadar to China will be the cheapest source of transportation. Its like the oil wells are linked from GCC to China by pipelines.

About gas, Pakistan needs gas desperately and they should consider importing even higher volume of gas from Iran. Pakistan should have stuck woth 56m diameter for pipeline that was originally planned for Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline as our demands are so much that with 42 metre we will only be able to fulfil partial requirememt

We don't even have the money to build existing pipeline let alone larger diameter of pipeline. Brother China will help build Gwadar-Nawabshah pipeline which will be connected to Iran later by adding 80km link from Gwadar to Iran. That is all it is... Pakistan is looking for import of gas from Qatar which is supposedly cheaper than Iran but even that is not enough for now. We also need TAPI to reduce some loadshedding by the time they all gets completed
