English gay used to mean cheerful, once upon a time. Shakespeare used it to mean cheerful as well. But alas now it is :astagh:

I don't understand your later part of the post in relation to my conversation with unchained @django

It does more than kill pakistani industry, it also destroys their environment since one of the biggest CPEC industry is Chinese mining in pakistani soil.

china has set up coal mining and coal powered units in pakistan who's cost of electricity is MORE than electricity produced in India. It will cost them Rs. 10 per unit.

India produces solar electricity in the same thar region for Less than Rs. 2.4 per unit.

Like they say, chinese Fraandship is not cheap.

The coal plants are fine. They don't have many of those. Most of their thermal plants are oil or gas based.

Even if they won't have money by 2020, they will at least have surplus installed capacity.

days of building new coal plats are long gone since pakistan also has a water storage. Solar would have been the best way forward.

Excess capacity is a waste, especially when you cannot afford it.

No need to get personal.

I am just posting what IMF predicts for the Pakistan economy up to 2023. Talk about shooting the messenger!

Your buddy @Nilgiri just cannot stop himself getting banned time after time! I am not in the least bit fazed by him as I do call him from time to time in my posts when appropriate.

Seriously, the whole point of this thread is to start a discussion on some deep problems with the Pakistan economy. Too many Pakistani posters see CPEC as some sort of magic wand for the economy.

they came out with these new projection after seeing the capabilities of our new Finance minister, so Pakistan will achieve same growth we have during PPP time of no govt.

There are different reasons for this. You also have to understand that Pakistan is currently still at war with terrorist groups. IMF and other agencies keep changing their predictions from time to time.

CPEC is certainly not magic wand but it will help Pakistan in the long run. Pakistani provinces and center will get royalties on shipments passing through Pakistan. CPEC is still in the process of construction. I do agree Pakistan is not currently in good position because of some illogical decisions of the past decade but it is slowly improving. Few good signs to mention include massive improvement in security situation and electricity issues.
