No official deal has been announced by China and all news coming out about any contract discussions have originated from Russian media. I'm not saying that it may not be true but it does look very much like Russia trying to stir up interest and publicity for its SU-35 platform. It's a case of Russia wanting to sell as oppose to China wanting to buy.

we would get best of both.But in case working on 5th gen tech we cant independently implement russian tech as we are allowed to manufacture for sole purpose=pakfa=but not for our indegenous productions like Amca.just like insas russians noticed tech breach from ak 47.
just like su30mki production in our country but we cant implement it on our home products like lca,or change it to other standards.
so in other words HAL is just another manufacturing hub for ruskies not a jv research center,merely a production line, out of their country.

Russia surely have an interest to sell the Su 35, since they have major problems to sell it, unlike the Su 30MK (thanks to India mainly), but China surely have a major interest as well, because they neither have such engine nor radar technology so far and both is needed for their stealth fighters too.

Super Sukhois and the Su 35 are similar in capabilities. Thats why we did not purchase them.
The Su 35 is more multirole capable though (AFAIK).
