It is weird that he talked about Uyghur population first and then turn to 'you'. Maybe the extremists disgraced the whole Islam world.

Ethnic conflict is a very common issue in this world. This is because humans, by nature, are social creatures. They form communities and groups, often depending on common identifiers such skin color, language, religion or ethnicity. If these divisions are properly treated, you can easily isolate certain groups from the society and that will just create a festering wound that will only go away if it is forceful cut----which often translates into divisions of territory or eradication of the group in question.
Now, the reason CCP set these policies is very simple. On one hand, they need to establish firm control to properly manage and govern the nation. On the other hand, they also want to soothe relationships between Han Chinese and the other ethnicity and avoid incidents that might create a conflict. These exemptions and benefits are the necessary compromises.

The reason why I called CCP the stupidest party with regard to ethnic policy is they artificially created and emphasized difference between different groups! Why should national ID cards indicate ethnicity? Why do resumes of celebrities and officials identify their ethnicity? What purpose does it serve? etc.

Unlike other countries, China's ethnicity should not be an issue since we are basically all of the same race except far western parts. We are very easy to integrate. But alas, the CCP wanted to follow the Soviet Union failed system and created barriers among people.

Instead of working on economic integration of all people, the CCP chose to emphasize cultural, social differences. Humans are territorial by nature. If you put a label on people, people will tend to group together with the same label and feel alienated from other groups, which is exactly what the CCP has done.

Take myself as example, if the CCP during the creation of 55 ethnic groups identified people in Yantze River Delta that speaks Wu dialect (elevate to language) as a separate non-Han ethnicity, today, I would definitely feel alien about China's ancient history, even though my ancestors were always part of the civilization. I would feel different from Han people, even tough we are basically the same people with minor differences in cuisine, language and some folklore practices. You get the idea.

By the way, they tried to do it to Haka people, but Haka refused to be identified as non-Han.

You are not familiar with modern China and modern CCP. Left is almost strictly forbidden since Deng took the power in late 1970's, while right and liberalism is always treated quite tolerantly. In the internet, people are free to condemn CCP and Chinese government. Anyway, I don't know if it is legal to propaganda socialism and claim to topple the Federal government in US internet, but these words are very common in China's internet.

You are confusing liberal with nationalism (which is a right wing "movement"), which is the new narrative the CCP is proping up in order to legitimize it's rule in an era where the average Chinese wants more and more "empowerment". With economic prosperity in a relative sense come wishes for a greater role in the political sphere/decision making.
CCP knows that and creates tensions with neighbours to muster support through nationalism.

While killing of innocent and losing of civil order is totally unacceptable, but thinking that it will be a threat to the existence of either CCP or China is entirely unrealistic.

I would say worse than Yuan and Qing. Yuan and Qing had official policies that discriminated against Han and gave their own ethnicity lordship treatment, while vast vast majority of the CCP members and top officials are all Han but they discriminate against its own people.

The really funny part is that the CCP is so incompetent in propaganda warfare compared with the rest of the world that the rest of the world, esp. western media, has been screaming that the CCP is oppressing the minorities, LOL. Of course, part of the reason is prejudice of the western media, but the CCP itself does a pitiful PR job.

Now we have this rather unbelievable situation where the silent majority is losing its cultures and minority cultures are being promoted and any economic development of their regions is considered purposeful eradication of their cultures by the world media. Our Buddhist temples and sacred mountains are being converted and commercialized as tourist spots while churches and mosques are mushrooming all over China. I don't know what our future generations will say about us, and whether they can continue to claim that China has continuous civilization for millenniums at that time.

Are you referring to the concept of civilization state v. nation state, esp. espoused by Martin Jaques? If China is moving towards nation state as most modern countries are, then people should not be divided into different ethnic groups purposefully. No sensible country would emphasize that its president is black, white, yellow, English descendant, Jew, etc.

Plus, your translation of "nation" into 民族 is misleading.
