TRM is the most discussed because of apparent ease of counting. Nevertheless the Phase Shifters, Switching Circuitory, High Power amplifiers for transmission efficiency , Low power Amplification hardware for Receiving effectiveness Plus Processing modules , tantalum polymer Capacitors, interfaces all make up what a modern AESA Radar performance is.


Just one factor - The beam width is directly inverse proportional to the number of TRMs active, hence while performing extensive jamming is active the fighter is in essence ‘blind’.

The Power supplied, Cooling mechanism, Notch type or other wise to go with choice of materials. Purity, Refining , Substrate Sandwich of WBD Semi Conductor materials

The requirement with high power density and wide bandwidth – an ideal use case for Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology.

Just one of advantages is Lower Noise, given better electrical mobility and as GAN can operate at a higher voltage level this enables, with careful RF design, to push down the thermal noise even further giving excellent SNR performance which make it much harder for an opponent to remain undetected when utilizing it’s (LPI) radar.

Current PAF inventory and its procurement roadmap is certainly going to give it an edge over its counterparts.

The F7 and Mirage are being replaces by JF17 at a rapid rate. That easily gives a jump of 2 generations.

The F16s with AMRAAMs and JF17 with pl15 in large numbers will give its adversaries sleepless nights.

The Indians can discount the Chinese missiles and JF17s, which is a good thing. They should get a glimpse of PAF’s superiority during operations like Swift Retort every now and then.

What do you mean?
Jf17 is one of largest 4th gen aircraft produced (>200) and is in service for 15 years in 3 countries.

It's weapons have been added incrementally and has been battle tested.

It already has credited air to air kills and air to ground use

most of them to one country

The J-10 and PL-15E helped deal a psychological blow to India and their acquisition of the Rafale. IMHO, even if the range is comparable, the J-10 needs a ducted Ramjet missile akin to the Meteor. The psychological impact will keep the Indians wondering if any fighter in their inventory can really outmatch any aircraft in the PAF. This will be helping in defeating any Indian adventurism in terms of surgical strikes.

A missile like that could easily be rolled out to the JF-17 fleet and the Indians would be kept guessing as to the capabilities of any fighter they faced.

BTW; The Ozgur upgrade is probably the best the PAF can realistically hope for the F-16 fleet for the foreseeable future. I doubt the PAF could get the Viper upgrade consider Taiwan is getting that and the PAF operates significant Chinese EW systems.

The Ozgur upgrade, IMHO is actually better for the PAF, than the Viper upgrade, because it would allow the PAF to use all kinds of Turkish munitions especially their upcoming GoKhan Ramjet Missile.
