The F-16 fighting falcon is also called " the "Viper" don't really know what was your point that you were trying to make but yes its a beautiful yet deadly aircraft.

I wasn't making a point on the nickname, just asking a genuine question. F15 is eagle. FA18 is super hornet. I truly can't figure out whether f16 is fighting falcon or viper...

I don't think I'll ever get complete closure but it seems that more professonals call it viper.

Well, it is a matter of opinion after all.

However, I will say that Shahid Latif joined the PAF 2 Years prior to K. Tufail in 1971, however he (S. Latif) retired 06 Years after, but that was due to his Rank.

Both sources can/could be considered credible - based on what the actual facts are - something that is still kept in the dark from us, the general public.

Since I mentioned 'opinion', I too have an opinion that both were able to get multiple kills as stated by @TheTallGuy (in other Topics) - but i'm awaiting for the day when all will be revealed to our satisfaction & joy.

frankly SL with being pioneer F16 pilot, who gone gone to west to train on them as first Pakistani Pilots, as well as being the First Project Director of JF17 program and to this day its longest too of 7 years from 2001-2007......i will rather take this illustrious carrier and his achievements over a mere internet rambler! who couldnt digest the fact that Mushy had somebody else Air chief and not him, then goes to write abt it in 2009 defence journal.

Yes and No. The SU30 does have positives but it has a lot of negatives. It is after all an aircraft of the 70's much like the f16 you claim is inferior.

Well there was a reason and suspicion was spare parts ban and the pressure to oblige to continue receiving spare parts.

Machines are the products of men!!! They are as good as the men who made them!! F16s were designed at the time when the ethics, intelligence, smartness etc. of the common US folks were at the zenith...

This is so true and now if the quality has to be maintained the cost will be extremely high.

very well said. i totally agree with you, american are very productive and innovators and every aspect of life. some times too capitalist. from a sweeper to top end surgeon, they are full of productivity. comparing that to an average Pakistani/ indian, irani or an arab, the difference is very broad. i think average american are more productive than averages Europeans. in my openion, only nation that is rivaling american worker is Chinese worker but not in all aspects.

Americans are more innovative and Europeans are efficient. Nobody can beat the American innovation

But both f15 and f16 have repeatedly succeeded against Russian counterparts in numerous theatres over the last few decades. I believe (going on what someone told me so could be wrong) f15 is actually undefeated in air to air combat - undefeated! I'd take American birds over their Russian counterparts any day of the week.

F15,f16 are no doubt better than russian old fighter jets at the time when f15 and f16 were used in 1980 and 1990s but modern russian jets are better in many aspects than these u.s jets and there is no evidence of air combat between russia and u.s by using these modern russian jets against f15 and f16.Russian jets mostly lose combat because they are cheap and mostly sold to third world countries and some arab nations like iraq,lybia ,Syria etc which have no good airforce and pilots otherwise one of the PAF pilot downed multiple israeli jets in israel Syria conflict by using russian migs available to Syrian airforce at that time so it all depebds more on pilots than on fighterjets

I would take Sir Kaiser Tufail's word over any other for multiple reasons. Calling him an internet rambler does nothing to reduce his respect & reputation. It only shows the quality of your class-less trolling.

This is one of the first F-16 Fighting Falcons that was delivered to the PAF in early 1980s.
While after 35 years of service, most aircraft will be obsolete or nearing their service life, the F-16, however, with it's capacity to induct comprehensive upgrades, has remained a front runner in the modern aerial combat, a fact it again proved decisively during recent air clash with the Indian Air Force.
