Su30 and many russian jets are better than f16 and we should not undermine their capability.It was fault of indian pilots and their untrained army that su30 was shot down.They used israel sam which is based on u.s technology and downed their own helicopter which proves that fault lies in india and not in russian weapons

Yes and No. The SU30 does have positives but it has a lot of negatives. It is after all an aircraft of the 70's much like the f16 you claim is inferior.

I called this out on very next day still some people insisted it was Thunder which got kills.

Then there were folks that were calling the PAF to sell off these great war-birds, both here and the pakdef.org forum.

Are they "vipers" though? I understand that these days they are referred to as vipers...but there was a time when we were told to call them "fighting falcons".... Or is "fighting falcons" just a squadron name?? I've never really been clear on that.

Whatever its nickname, f-16 is the most beautiful aircraft I ever did see.

The F-16 fighting falcon is also called " the "Viper" don't really know what was your point that you were trying to make but yes its a beautiful yet deadly aircraft.

we have to admit US tech is far superior and reliable then chinese, russian and european tech. an air craft that first flew in late 70s is still a killer for the relatively newer russian jets.

The thing is, that even though these jets are produced in 1970s, they are upgraded from time to time. This jet was probably a 3rd generation fighter back then, now its newer variants are considered 4++ generation, and even the upgraded ones are considered 4th generation.

The age is not a factor if the jet can be upgraded. In same way, Indian mig-21 is upgraded to the extent it is now a 3rd generation jet close to being a 4th generation jet.

It's not that Russian jets are bad, they are very good. Nothing beats Western tech.

Shahid Latif is adament it was JF17 not F16........and frankly, i will take his word seriously then mere Kaiser Tufail's who retired long time ago.

I think this is not proved yet as by looking at results of only one combat you cannot conclude this that f16 and f15 are better than modern russian jets, f16 are also downed by sams in iraq kuwait war, and in yougoslavia as well as by Syria in israel territory so they are not something regarded as invicible .There is high chance that if u.s use f16,f15 against iran alot of them will be downed by iranian airdefenses that is why u.s f22 and f35 arrived at their airbases in middle east

But both f15 and f16 have repeatedly succeeded against Russian counterparts in numerous theatres over the last few decades. I believe (going on what someone told me so could be wrong) f15 is actually undefeated in air to air combat - undefeated! I'd take American birds over their Russian counterparts any day of the week.

Well, it is a matter of opinion after all.

However, I will say that Shahid Latif joined the PAF 2 Years prior to K. Tufail in 1971, however he (S. Latif) retired 06 Years after, but that was due to his Rank.

Both sources can/could be considered credible - based on what the actual facts are - something that is still kept in the dark from us, the general public.

Since I mentioned 'opinion', I too have an opinion that both were able to get multiple kills as stated by @TheTallGuy (in other Topics) - but i'm awaiting for the day when all will be revealed to our satisfaction & joy.
