As to fr8endship with Russia it should be a cornerstone of our policy to be friendly with all superpowers in our region. But Russia can be equally dangerous as US.

We already have paid a lot and today where we are result of being pimp to US and West .Now after scraficing billion of dollars and uncountable lives people are saying we have to play a role ,what is this a Joke .Decision you take today will haunt you for many years .Its time we need to revisit our selves we have a strategic interest even we dont get involved any more conflicts .We need to adress our issues internally first be strong economically and try to improve lives of 180 Mil. Message has to be we will get birds what ever we want but not at that expense but we dignity.

Or maybe both U.S and Russia want Pakistan to play an important role in Syria by supporting one of them.

Very true. but i don't think that it's right time to dumb Uncle and there 16's.
Wait for some 4-5 years. and our economy will allow us to induct a new platform that also in some 60-70+ units. In that Case the Seller "either Russia or china" will be bound (due to big amount) to provide more and more beneficiary options to us like "Tot may be" , or integrated weapons packages for those aircraft's. We can't expect such linearity from Russia in case of 20-30 Su-35's . they are not Idiot's to dumb India for 20-30 jets.
On other hand , China can Offer us J10A-B with Tot. but they will never ever provide Tot for J10C-D or J-20 Until you ask for some 100+ jets .. we need to bring us in such Position that Even they got no other option and go with our demand.

Of course, in the end PAF will be getting ayf sola, no SUs and not Chinese heavy birds. That's pretty much clear.

If we go for J-10 then the numbers would be around 72+ and if we go for lesser numbers then it is better to go for F-16s instead of getting a brand new platform and that would be inducted in numbers once they been mastered like F-16 like if we ever had a chance in past with no sanction problems we would be flying around 160 to 200 F-16s and even with all these authentication sh!t we will be flying probably 108 to 120 so that means in future we need a replacement for a medium platform if any thing goes wrong between USA and Pakistan so I believe its better to bet on to induct another Chinese platform with European Licensed avionics and Russian Engine which would be F-117S or a custom enhanced version. Now in the light of what I have written which I understand and learned here at the forum and some senior PAF members I would say that if we induct J-10C, D, E or whatever it will be inducted in numbers like at least 180 or so but they would be in a way that a few would be bought and absorbed and later more comes. In addition J-10 A,B are not good enough as we already have JFT which is almost similar in performance and enhanced further so a big no to J-10A,B and if we go the way I have mentioned above then in best way is to get the J-10C in flyaway condition and that would be much cheaper than later an assembly line can be put up in AMF replacing Mirage RBF.

As India is getting Rafale(4++ gen), upgrading Su-30s(4+), getting closer to PAK-FA(5th gen), this romance of PAF with F-16 is not going to work any longer. As India is getting stronger, they are bullying is further. Think where stands our Kashmir cause now? We need to get out of the clutches of US, sooner the better.

Best option, in my humble opinion, would be to strike a deal on APG-83 SABR AESA for our existing F-16 fleet and Legion IRST ... if possible. This would be the best force multiplier the PAF can get at this point. Better than more Vipers with Pulse Doppler Radars.

F-16s are useless brids ,even if they put the dam whole NASA on it ?
It won't even move , in case of any war requirements ?
It happened before & it will keep happening ?
it will be a criminal offence , if our air force goes for more F-16s from USA ?

What other option you have in place of F16?

Even if PAF went for F16 it will be of two squadrons strength, one sectioned, one New.

How wise is it to buy new American plate form for two or one squadrons?
FA18?
F15?
What else......? With out AESA both above aircrafts are useless for us. Bcuz they will be expensive to buy and operate.
Complete required quota of falcon and say NO to American aircrafts for next time

People don't seem to realise the true capabilities of the F-16.
It's one of the most reliable, battle tested and combat proven aircraft out there.
Presently our F-16D versions are the most capable platforms in the region.....the PAF is in love with F-16 because it has 30+ years experience on it and knows it's capabilities, if in doubt, just check the psychological effect even a dozen ex-Jordanian machines had on our neighbours.

We should release that our beloved F16s are no more relevant today .

People who are saying PAF jump directly to 5th Gen jets should study the operational cost of 5th gen jets.

We can afford only 1 or 2 squadrons
