Kuwait gives the green light to buy 40 F-18 fighters instead of 24

Italy can offer x1000 more to Libya than Tunisia can ever do...and they already begun to move... whatever by Military help or loans etc.. Even thou' TN helped a lot of Libyans till this day after the revo... (2Mil took refuge in this past 6 years, with 1+Mil living in TN) it's somthing that bear no weight when it comes to their own gain...

Ppl could feel otherway when it come to this matter... Politics do not... it's everyone for himself...
And if Libya move could put relationship btw the two countries in bad weather... it' snot like Tunisia can do anything about it... Since If Libya is back on track they could sustain whatever they want from abroad with their Oil/Gas money...

Tunisia as no power... and International court is meaningless... they could do nothing when it come to Cyprus/Turkey gas fields... let alone to Italy...
TN gov knows it... so that's why they are not counting on it either... they barely speak about it... let alone fighting for a lost cause when you "could be" 2vs1...
I believe that in a short time, Libya will become defiant again. I think that you're vastly overestimating the influence of Italy over Libya. Right now, German and Dutch money is flowing into Libya a lot more than Italian money. The Germans train our "Presidential Guard" (regular forces), while Italy is relegated to training the coast guard and (with France) our Navy. They do have some cards, but their most potent one is the fact that we are under sanctions (with regards to our massive foreign reserves), which means that our government is skint. This will change soon as their striking down has only been repeatedly vetoed by Russia, which stands to lose from our gaining control of assets held there. Now that the mood's softening, we see an end to that, and once our collective purse is opened, we won't be in need of Italian support. And the time is very near. Tunisians stand as brothers to us, unlike Italians...

Can the Tunisians play their France card and ask France for some help? Italy might not be in a good situation if France realises that it can't secure its purchase of oil from its former colony, it might do something. If only Tunisia could swap some money from the gas field for some Rafales of ships, then it would be a fine deal.

Maybe we could wait until Libya can sustain some hits from Italy, and then just jointly invade the zone? We could split the booty equally.:-)

with what? flouka? :)

Maybe we could sink all the thousands of tanks Libya has and build a bridge to the area? Or maybe some high-speed floukas armed with some modified missiles from Libya's massive arsenal. Could persuade those greedy Italians to back off.

The only way to make the Italian back off... is just to push on international court by being both on the same side.
But we are back... at the original point... Who Libya will side with... Time will tell...

so much money they are spending yet Iran doing grat compare to GCC...........:coffee:
Under sanctions"cover" one can develop a lot of systems, mostly reverse-engineer anything you want..North Korea is also doing great although 100 times less rich than Iran..it is even doing better with ICBMs and H-Bombs now..!?

Which is why this is an excellent choice and decision. Can't go wrong with the Super Hornet that has the latest and the greatest. The only problem is...

That's a crazy jump in price from $3 billion for 24 aircraft to more than $10 billion for 40!? Who did the math for this, a 3rd grader?!
Indeed it is a huge jump.. we should get the details of it though..I am pretty sure the first deal's price of 3 billion was not real.. we just have to compare with the price of 24 Typhoons or 24 Rafale to Qatar (not including the added 12 to make it 36 in total..)..they were almost all at the $6 billion mark..which will make sense for the Kuwaiti F-18s plus the added 16..But I am quite positive we are missing a lot of Data about the deal..we'll see when it will be announced officially in the US..

Yeah the numbers are weird. The low one seems too low and the high one is crazy high compared to the low one, but not necessarily by US standards.

The only possibility that will make sense is if Kuwait is buying 72 F-18 (or at least 64..where they have added 40 more!) spread on some period of time..

I am not sure if this as something to do with the price.."Next Generation"

I've seen that chart before and thought it was a bit weird to put the F/A-18E/F in the 5th generation category like probably everyone else does. They seem to have skipped the 4++ generation category where the Rafale is missing and should be, probably along with the F/A-18E/F and maybe the Su-35. Not only did they forget the Rafale, but they missed the J-20 as well, which should be in the 5th gen slot.

It is a 2010 chart.. it is missing a lot of jets.. they put the F/A-18E/F up there because of its external weapon bays and most likely some 5th Generation avionics and stealth coating..
