That was not essentially a BREAKING NEWS, however another official confirmation of this fact was nice indeed.

The one on right is equipped with WS-13, both these planes are in China (picture from 2014) undergoing flight testing of two different engines, the one on right is WS-13 and the one on left if RD-93MA (an improved RD-93 from Russia with increased thrust)

RD-93MA

This is not RD-93MA rather simple RD-93, the one we are currently using with Block 1. The RD-93 MA is an improved version of current engine with improved thrust.

The fellow announcing in the airshow actually said, the WS-13 will replace the RD. Same was confirmed by PAF chap from PAC Kamra.

It was and it will, that is why it is under evaluation and testing for quite some time. Once cleared we will see future JF-1 7 equipped with WS-13.
