With Pakistani shias getting killed front and center, i have my reservations about the validity of this survey.

A year ago, shia conditions weren't as dire.

That is pretty dumb. Do you think Shias are targeted because they are generally hated?

SSP and LeJ do not represent anybody but themselves. They have a tiny sliver of support from around Jhang where Sunni farmers resented Shia land lords and SSP was born out of that hate. With support from Takfiris and with Gulf money they have been conducting a murder campaign. They find sanctuary with Taliban because Taliban blame Iran (& Shias in Aghanistan) for their downfall.

It is not quite that simple as you make it out to be. I do not like when some Shia talk crap (met one nut just the other day), but generally there is respectful co-existence. As a well educated Shia lawyer told me "There is no Shia-Sunni problem here. There is a Wahabi-Shia problem'.

Hope that clarifies.

If this survey only reflects people's opinion about Iran's government, considering the amount of negative news about Iran published almost every hour of everyday, then it seems right.
But about opinions on Iranian people,I believe in most of the world, even in West, Iranians are being seen as most educated and respected communities in those countries.I don't think, except in Arab countries, you could find huge number of people who hate Iranians,as the people, not the regime ruling them.

If hostilities between Iran and West are ended, you could see these numbers dramatically change within years, since all the horrible news and propaganda about Iran would stop.

I don't know about others, but I for one like Iran as a country. Even though I am pro-Western.

The problem is the Wahabbis have the most money so they publish their garbage left/right and can afford to even hand it out for free to the poor from where they get most of their members. Before Zia started allowing Wahabbis to open up shop most of the Sunnis in Pakistan were Sufi and lived in peace with the Shias. Today even Sufis are targeted although it is not reported as much as Shias so most of Pakistanis are either just orthodox Sunni, Wahabbi, or Shia with an even smaller minority of Sufis.

I think it just an overall like for Iran both people and government nothing specific. The question might have just been what are your thoughts on Iran? Anyway I meant Pakistanis favoring Iran. :coffee: As to what are your thoughts on that?

About Pakistan, I think it shows majority of Pakistanis are not obsessed with sect, again, unlike Arab countries,in most cases. There is a huge difference between those animals who blow up Shias in Pakistan and regular Sunnis. Both Shias and Sunnis have lived in Pakistan in peace for many years, before Talibanism was introduced.Even now, I'm sure majority of Pakistani Sunnis don't put any difference between themselves and Shias.
I hope your country gets free of this Barbarism that is killing Muslims in name of 'Islam' and Pakistanis, live in absolute peace, once again, without any violence.

The other reason, I think is Iran standing against west and it expansionist policies and that's quite popular in Pakistan I suppose.

The only country where Iran’s favorability rating scores above 50 percent is Pakistan, with 76 percent giving the rogue state a positive review. That’s a tad ironic given Pakistan’s treatment of its Shiite minority, a sect with which Iran is closely identified. Pakistani Shiites have been so repeatedly and brutally targeted by terrorist groups that the government’s failure to protect them “amounts to complicity,” according to Human Rights Watch.
Honestly a lot of bull$hit here. I m particularly offended by this term 'rogue state'. Looking at the beahvior, US is the biggest rogue state.

Killing of shias is a very twisted narrative in western press. Its the combination of ignorance and bias. More bias actually. The govt in Pakistan is responsible to stop such attacks. It has consistently failed as it has not policy except loot and plunder.

The western countries alongside Musharraf are partly responsible for giving us this gift of democracy through pliant and manageable crooks who were given NRO.
