Brief History of Afghans in India from 682 A.D to 1436 A.D

They came from Sibi, an Afghan territory in 15th century. Langehs of nowadays would naturally identify themeselves with jats with whom they have totally mixed. Your example of niazis doesnt make any sense 1) first of all they are contineous with pashtun belt without any interruption or barriar, they are part of pashtun belt 2) secondly isa khel is geographically part of pakhtunkhwa 3) thirdly they live as a whole tribe, being majority in the area. Before 16th century, not just isa khel, but adjacent lakki and tank were also niazi territories as described in baburnama.

You are going against your own sources. And just checked Sibi is in northen eastern part Balochistan near Seraiki areas. I though they came from Afghanistan? I think this again proves they are indeed Seraiki tribe. Dozens of sources can't be wrong at the same time. If UP pashtuns can maintain their identity then i don't see why not Langahs. And no pashtuns will not identify with jats, does not make any sense.

But a part from Niazis what other big pashtun tribe settled in Punjab permanetly? Anyway Langah are not Pashtuns. Langah is Seraiki jatt clan, there are also langah jatt sikhs also who moved after partition.

KakaZai a Pushtun tribe settled in Punjab, the ones in Punjab are Punjabi pathans they speak Punjabi, a lot migrated from East Punjab in 1947.

Copied from Wikipedia:
Early History

The Kakazai came to South Asia during invasions such as those of Mahmud of Ghazni, settling in various regions.[1][2][10]

British-Raj Era

A major Kakazai group from Gurdaspur, East Punjab, India settled in twelve villages, including Babal Chak, Faizullah Chak, Sut Kohiah (Satkoha), and Wazir Chak, near Dhariwal. At the independence in August 1947, having been initially told they (being Muslim) would be in Pakistan, they were caught up in the ensuing violence and the survivors displaced when their area became part of India.[30][31][32][33][34][35]

Modern Era

Today, the majority of the Kakazai reside in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan, they reside in Marawara District, and the Barkanai and Shortan areas of Kunar[36] as well as some areas of Laghman.[24]

In Pakistan, they reside in all provinces, particularly in the areas of Dara Kakazai (Valley of Watelai, also known as Mamund Valley),[37] Bajaur Agency (Lagharai, Kalozai, Kaga, Mukha, Maina and Ghakhi areas of Tehsil Mamund), Lahore,[38][39] Abbottabad, Peshawar, Sialkot,[40] Dera Ghazi Khan, Quetta, Karachi, Kashmir, Jehlum, Bhalwal, Sargodha, Chakwal, Gujrat, Chak Karal, Isa Khel, Musa Khel, and Killi Kakazai (Pishin, Baluchistan).[24][31][41][42]

Actually Sibi or Siwi is upper sindh area right? And what kind of pashtun will use Rai title.

''In 1437 Rae Sehra and his Langh tribe usurped the rule of Multan and declared independence The Langah dynasty ruled until 1526 when the Arghun Turks who had been pushed out of Kandahar by Babur toke the city in his name''

This is interesting book, it deals with Pakistan, Punjab. I will buy this book, just because its written in 2007 and not 2 hundred years ago by Britsh masters lol

''Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis and quantitative geography techniques, the research provides insights into the meaning of changing settlement patterns in the Pakistani province of Punjab between the 5th century B.C and 18th century A.D.''

And about Arghun turks.

I have found more sources. Rai is title for King like rajput, no pashtun will have this surname. Tomorrow i will post all the sources with links. Langah tribe is coming as seraiki rajput/jatt mostly in 99% of sources.

Let me do more research on Langehs, then i will tag you.
About Sibi, it was part of historical Afghanistan that was mentioned by Al-beruni, ibn-batuta , Timur etc and has history associated with Panni tribe of Afghans. Southern parts of Sibi were conquered by Marri Balochs in 1841 after British destroyed power of Khajjaks (a branch of panni) in 1841 (See This for details). Not just Sibi, but adjacent Kohlu district was also captured from Zarkuns (a branch of Panni Afghans) after second Anglo-afghan war (see This for details). Dhahdar (Bolan) was also in possession of Pannis till the period of Mir Naseer Khan Noori.

One thing i have noticed is pashtuns love for cowbelt areas. Before pashtuns settled in large numbers in UP/Bihar and now in Karachi. I have no idea why there is any frictions between both groups. I mean there is hardly any friction between punjabis and pashtuns. Not to forget 1/3 muhajirs are of pashtun decendent.

Yes we had a lot of Pathan villages in south eastern punjab that is present day haryana many of which still retain their names and I always wondered how although they left but Pathan at other U.P cities like ferozabad never left they still
Live there
As samandari has mentioned they probably came with slave dynast tughlaq but then we even had many baloch villages.

Pathan families in U.P (Rohillas and bangash) , settled there in early 18th century while in punjab there were already two older Afghan colonies functioning since 15th century , kasur and maler kotla, former was established by zamands and kheshgi afghans with arrival of Babur while later was given as jagir by bahlol lodhi to sherawani tribe.

Brother you are right an example would be of the Pathans of multan who have been living for ages and now are more punjabi than Pathans .
Talking of multan can you tell me if Baba Farid of multan was an afghan ?

Also you have mentioned that Pathans came up north during the rule of Kabul shahi's any thing relevant to prove it ?

@oye_natta Siwi or Siwistan , nowadays known as Sibi, is not upper sindh. Historically siwi or siwistan and sindh are mentioned as separate regions. Dhadar, from where Langahs migrated, is also called bolan region. In what sense you can call bolan as part of upper sindh. Upper sindh is kashmor, jacobabad etc. Historian of 13th century, saif harvi of tarikh-nama-i-herat mentions sibi-dhadar as abode of afghans

I don't know why you ignored next page from same book.

H.A Rose book which was written in 18th century and half of punjabis are arabs or some other according to claims. Here are sources which support my claim, including H.A Rose. Afghan, jatt, rajput etc are just labels, one have to get in to particular clan/tribe history to know their origen.

Here are latest sources, Afghan never used any Rai title.

There are also hindu lohana and pashtun-lohani, there are even rohilla-rajputs who insist that they have nothing to do with Afghan-rohillas. Same might be the case with langahs. "rai" doesnt signify any thing, earliar pashtuns had weird and diverse names. Farishta and ahmad yadgar mention them as afghans, moreover they themeselves claim that they have migrated from sibi-dhadar, an afghan abode continuous with Koh sulieman region. Note that Dera Ghazi Khan at that time was abode of Nahar clan of Ghurghast Afghans who established independent kingdom of Sitpur in 1450 A.D. Khetrans is sub-tribe of miana Afghans but the ones in Barkhan associate themselves with Balochs (they are balochized) while the ones in DG Khan call themselves Pathans.
Tarikh-i-Ferishta, Ain-i-Akbari Vol.II (page 336) and Cambridge history of India Vol.III (page 503) mention Langahs as Afghan clan which used to rule Siwi immediately before 1440 A.D. Its possible that they may not be from Sibi-dhadar at all, but they must have asserted their claim of Afghan origin at that time.
English historian Henry George Raverty consider Langahs as Jats and dismiss their Afghan origin claim.
