I think Farid ganjshakar has nothing to do with Afghans

He was a direct descendant of Farrukh shah the king of kabul and ghazni who was killed by the invading Mughals
Although the king claimed himself to be a descendant of the second caliph I doubted this claim .
when the family left kabul they came first to kasur and then to multan afghans lived at both these places even the village he was born in situated around multan has many punjabi Pathan families but thanks for clarifying .

It is difficult to assess the ethnic origin of any sufi saint, majority of them claimed to be Sayyid or Qureshi. E.g Lal Shahbaz Qalanader migrated from a Pashtun place , Maiwand in afghnaistan, but at the same time claiming syed origin and roots from baghdad.

Pathan families in east punjab, before partition, were mainly concentrated in Hoshiarpur, jalandhar and malerkotla. There are books written on the pathans of respective districts by an author by name of Ayub Khan.

Also Gurdaspur from where Lohani, Kakazai etc migrated to western punjab.
