What's new

22 top airforces (based on plane quality and quantity).

Who says TF-X will be a success? Even if, we still have to wait for at least 3-4 decades to produce a significant amount of Fighters, in the end we try to produce a 5th gen fighter from scratch, while we cant even produce the smallest indigenous aviation engine yet...

The F-35 partnership is a good thing, we gained much know-how throught this project, not to meantion the fact that this jet is one of the best at the moment, no matter what pessimists say.
It will be successful eventually. Probably not by 2023.

Sorry for late reply. But I already rated these two airforces. I even uploaded an excel fire with details.
Here is data from WAF 2014:

212 F-16 C/D 1,10/1,05
30 F-16 block 50+ 1,10/1,20
54 F-4 Terminator 2020 0,60/1,00
15 F-4 0,30 /0,60
23 F-5 0,25/0,35
7 KC-135 2,00 6,00

25 F-15I 1,40/ 1,50
42 F-15 C/D 1,30/ 0,50
16 F-15 A/B 1,20 /0,50
99 F-16I 1,10 /1,20
131 F-16C/D 1,00/ 1,00
58 F-16A/B 0,70/ 0,80
3 Phalcon 8,00 /0,00
8 KC-707 6,00/ 2,00
4 KC-130 1,00 /4,00
---------------
2*465,3 +394,7=1325,3

Notes:

1) Turkish F-16C I counted as 1.1/1.05 instead of 1/1, because they are mostly block 50.
2) According to WAF there is still no operational AEW in TuAF. If I add 1 Boeing 737 AEW then Turkish rank will grow to 1033 and if i add all 4 then to 1081.

Thanks, so would you rate Israeli Armed Forces combined to be a bit better armed than the Turkish forces?

I think that yes.

I can give more reasoning: Israel has 313 4th gen fighters (not including F-16A), Turkey has 242. In addition Israel has heavy air superiority fighters like F-15, and heavy ground attack like F-15I.

Thank you again, one thing bugs me is that what is the different between FA-18 Super Hornet and let's say F-15 I. And is EuroTyhphoon Tranche 3 a better plane than F-15 SA or I?

Air superiority fighters are overrated. They have more fuel, as a result longer range, stay in the air for longer but that doesn't mean anything in a small theatre and when you have air refueling capabilities. The gap in numbers can open and close at war. It's hardly a decisive factor

Fuel always means a lot. Less sorties, more afterburner time, more flexibility.

and when you have air refueling capabilities.
Tankers are complicated to use very vulnerable and need protection themsleves.

In addition air superiority fighters have more altitude speed, more powerful radar, acceleration and so on.

F-15 is bigger much faster, more TW ratio compare to F-18.

EFT is more agile has lower RCS. F-15SA has more load, more range, more powerful radar.

It comes with a price, The bulky the plane gets less agile it becomes. That's the reason why we have CFTs on so few F16s. Because F16 without the CFT is still a better dogfighter even if it fits so well, and doesn't fvck with the aerodynamics of the plane.

We have AN/APG 68(v)9 radars but doesn't really matter, AEW&C planes are very reliable. And you don't need a radar lock on a target that's so far away from your AIM 120 range anyway :)

if you think like that even Iranian F14s are far better than Turkish F16s :)

No thats not the reason. You always can remove the CFT, but u cant fit them

F-15 has two times more radar antenna area than F-16.

Well maintained and armed F-14 is better.

@500 Why have you not included 5th gen.... F-35, F-22, J-20, J-31, FGFA, PAK-FA.... isn't because the technology has not matured yet or is there any other reason?..... because that would help in determining the future picture of the airforces and their standings.

Either you have very serious comprehension problem or delusional myopia or more likely both.

I guess you could describe paf had redundant air force over kargil in 1999 when lack of training and harmoney with the leaders meant a no show to support their nli regimet.

Or did you mean something elde

I did count the F-22 for USAF, all other are not operational yet.
