Hungarians, if I'm not wrong, are a turkic people

absolutly not..

they are not turkic turkic is an own branch if we can say we have cousins than you should only consider mongols and no one else..

old hungrians may had due to geographical reasons some similarities like script, steppes culture and so on.. even the languages have gramatically similarities but thats it hungrian words have no same roots except some loanwords..

some ppl also try to put japanese and korean into the altaic family but this languages are more of isolated languages and it is extreemly controverse..

but yes all these languages have similarities in grammer and some of them in their old culture of the steppes but that changed when these cultures chose their religions and settled down and left to be nomads

Despite the gimmickry of Mustafa Kemal, they were not accepted by the Europeans as their own. Still aren't and wont be in foreseeable future since they have moved away from hyper-secularism.

A lesson for those who think that by being secular, we will earn the respect of the West.

That is not true. While we were secular, the west was acting more positive toward us. Remember, Turkey was the only non-christian member of NATO. They also accepted Turkey to the Customs Union and grant other rights with 1961 Ankara Agreement. They also requested for millions of Turkish guest-workers. Besides Turkey, they only accepted guest-workers from other European countries such as Italy and Spain. Since the biggest European nations are much more secular now, if we had continued to be a strictly secular country, I believe they would be much more embracing toward us.

Historically speaking the attitude towards Turks is not monolithic. Turkey was a close ally of Germany duting ww1. England and France were allied with Turks in the Crimean war. The Ottomans were just another empire with wars and alliances.

That is also not true. These are only a handful of examples from history that we had allies in a war. Since the early times of Ottomans, Turks had no European ally while fighting more than one opponent in most of the cases. Most alliances between European countries were being established through marriages during that time. Since Ottomans did not have such a chance, they were the most lonely country in Europe for centuries. The situation was generally like this :D :

Japanese and Korean are actually similar to Turkic many scientists proved it. But this does not mean Turks are related to the Japanese or the Koreans.

It seems the people of the Far East and Central Asia like the Turks, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Tibetans and the Mongols all seem to link with each other each due to trade, cultural exchanges and other stuff.

As Turks of Turkey even if our ancestors came from Central Asia and the Far East its hard to link us to the Japanese, Mongols, Koreans and Manchus.

Overtime even if we were cousins. We all branched out and became different. Turks of Turkey are different from Yakuts and Tuvans. Compare Iraqi Turkmens to Uygur Turks. Compare Kazakhs to Turkmens of Turkmenistan.

Hi,

The brits did not take the rule from hindus---they took it from the muslims in the sub continent---.

It was the muslims that they brutalized more---it was the muslims that they subjugated more---. It is obvious who they would be concerned of---.

This is your perception. By the time East India company was invading the Indian hinterland, there was no major dominant ruler over the whole country. India was divided into hundreds of kingdoms. Mughals in- around Delhi/North India, Nawab of Bengal in East (today's Bangladesh/West Bengal/Assam), Nawab of Awadh in central India, Marathas on west, Sikhs in today's Pakistan, etc etc......so they took away rule from everyone.

If we were Christian, we would be culturally European and friends of Europeans, this way there would be no hatred. Turks would most likely be considered white by Westerners therefore it would leave out the racism issue.

If you were a Christian you would say Thank God we are not Muslim.

Christianity is a religion full of anti Turkism.

Look at every religion in the world including Islam you will see Christianity hates Turks the most.

To the Christians us Turks are the ultimate devil or the incarnation of evil.

Hungarians are lucky, Turks are not.

A Christian Turkey would be as powerfulas Britain, Germany, France etc but they missed the boat.

How so? Ottomans were the most powerful empire in Europe for some time. Later the Ottoman empire collapsed but Turkey continues to be one of the most powerful nations. Its a member of G20 and if it was member of EU, it would had the largest army and the largest population

This is the craziest thing i have ever heard, Turks are hated in the Christian world because of history and the fact that Turks are Muslims. If Turks were Christians then the history would be different and this time Muslims would become Anti-Turks.

You are forgetting Atilla and the Mongols

You are forgetting Atilla and the Mongols
What about them? Europeans don't associate Attila and Mongols with Turkish people, in fact they deny we have any relations with them.

Most Europeans think Turkish people are some native middle-eastern people related to Arabs, and clueless about origins of Turks.

Mongol is used as an insult.

Mongol is used as an insult.
Only Greeks do that, and i never take it as an insult.

Turks are disliked because we have many dumb people who are worthy to be despised, i also dislike a large percentage of Turks and if i were a European i would also dislike Turks.

Every day some of my countrymen make me facepalm and feel ashamed.
