Why does Pakistan have zero grandmaster's in chess ?

Iran is a outlier in the islamic world with regards to chess. A fiercely independent country, with a fine tradition in the sciences, sports and culture.
Its no surprise that iran is a emerging power in chess , football , space exploration, etc since its a confident and independent country.
Culture is more important than religion for the direction a country takes.
Bangladesh with its attachment to its culture rather than religion, also does ok in chess.
Turkey also has a quite a few GMs , about 15.
The trend is unmistakable. More the country is religious, the lesser the attraction to logic based activities.
India with its tradition of giving importance to education , is obviously a leader in chess. We won the chess olympiad a month back . Joint winners with Russia.

.
i think most Pakistani's do consider themselves part of ancient India. but ancient India is not modern India. the north is very different from the south, and Pakistan is part of the northern area of the Indian subcontinent, and chess comes somewhere from that northern region.
I beg to differ, most Pakistanis here will claim to be different than ancient India be it North or South, they claim to be distinct and separate from Ancient North India

I seriously doubt you are Pakistani.
Chess has its origins in the totally hindu traditions of ancient India. While we are fully aware that most Pakistanis are descendants of turks, Iranians(sorry to Iranians), middle easterners, etc.
My question still stands. Why so many Pakistanis on chess.com but no GMs.

. .
Will you believe Britannica?
https://www.britannica.com/topic/chess/History

I know the history of chess is still not crystal clear, but the Indian origin claim is widely accepted.

Read the opening paragraph of the above link again. I states verbatim, " The origin of chess remains a matter of controversy. There is no credible evidence that chess existed in a form approaching the modern game before the 6th century CE. Game pieces found in Russia, China, India, Central Asia, Pakistan............".............so even your own source states that there is no confirmed of the origin of the game of chess. Just speculation................:disagree:

are India's punjabis indian or outsiders?

is India's Punjab part of the ancient India?
Don't know what's that got to do with anything but India's Punjab and Indian Punjabis both are part of Ancient India

And I said Indian origin claim is the best and widely accepted among many. I did say it's not a 100% clear, feel free to disagree

Aren't you that same guy that claimed you are a 6'4 inch Arab looking athletic guy who received anti-Muslim racism and had South Americans rapping and dancing for you at a Train station??????????..............................:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::

It's not. Even your source doesn't claim that. In fact your source claims that the origins of chess is a matter if controversy and can in fact be potentially attributed to a number of possible nations INCLUDING Russia, China, Pakistan, Central Asia, india AND ELSEWHERE. Your source is contradicting your claims.

Almost nobody I know plays chess (speaking only of my own countrymen here), I barely play and I’m one of the few that might. There’s 90% of your answer.

Other reasons also include a lack of emphasis on chess in schooling, chess clubs for kids etc. And chess elsewhere is thought of as intellectually stimulating and as a tool to sharpen one’s mind. Maybe we don’t think of it in these terms?

Dont indulge it. Its a loser.

Answer is quite simple. Chess requires planning strategy execution fore thought time dedication and Pakistanis only have time and none of the other. So no chess players or grandmasters.
