Why Chennai can't and won't speak Hindi

That's where you're wrong. Knowing English hasn't changed us anything in us. We've too moved along with time like the rest of the World. It's a fallacy to think knowledge of a language will negatively influence culture. The Chinese and the Japanese don't speak any foreign language to this day. But are they still in the middle ages because of that?
Who said nothing has changed? English has influenced very basic life style of Indians..starting from cricket
There are certainly difference between life style of chinese, japanese and life style english influenced Indian's

We are not asking only Tamil in coins. We are asking why can't be other Indian languages in coin why only Hindi? So where is equality?
And I explained what governs the decision making set at the Central Level. And why apart from English, only Hindi is used on coins.

If you are still confused, read my above post.

So, do we include the hundred languages? And bear in mind we dont have so many typ
There are only 20 recognized language by GOI. Its completely feasible to have all coins with all these 20 languages.
There are different types of same 2 rupee coin so one type can be of one language likewise..got it?

Yeah?! Have you started to disrespect your parents just because you learnt English? Have you forgotten your prayers and manners just because you've learnt Cricket? Your arguments have started to take the absurd turn now mate.

And what happens when these coins reach places where no-one speaks or understands Tamil (or whatever regional language it is on the coin)?

Where do you believe a Tamilian has better chance to migrate to, rest of India or Korea? Yes they are doing okay there are tons of Tamilians here in Mumbai who speak in Hindi to survive, I lived in B'lore and did great only with Hindi, good that the Tamilians in rest of the country and myself didn't opt for Korean instead of Hindi

It for the Tamils to decide where they wish to migrate I cant decide for them. Apart from migration (out of India) it helps bring in Chinese, Japanese and Korean investments to Tamilnadu

Plus Tamils have a long history , of cultural /political links with South East Asia and the Far East but not with present day - India

Do also present facts on what percentage of Indians in India speak Tamil and where the overwhelming majority are located.

Since Tamil is one of the oldest languages in India, it has to be on the coinage and currency of India? Nice logic! Perhaps we should mint coins in Sanskrit and Tamil then instead of English.

why don't you get the percentage of Tamil speakers in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Mauritius, yourself and where they are located e.g SL

th

I gave two reasons to support Tamil, why you cherry pick only one- "oldest language" and not the other international reach ?

The Hindi written coin reaching remote places of South India where they don't speak Hindi..so now you got it? This is how it feels.

Yeah united but not equally..For Hindi person this won't be problem because everything is so comfortable for him but its not the case for others.

And who's stopped you from being as comfortable as him by learning Hindi? It's your self-imposed torture. Either learn one of the two Official Languages or forever struggle to make sense in India. The choice is yours.:coffee:

and at last you could come up with well known Hindi hypocrisy. Learn Hindi or not fit to be Indian?

Who cares what reach Tamil has outside India? What matters is the reach it has WITHIN India. Unlike places like Singapore and Mauritius, which aren't even a tenth of Tamil Nadu itself, Tamils aren't well-dispersed all over India to warrant any such favours. Sri lanka is half the size of Tamil Nadu for that matter.

English is good enough too. I've never advocated that Hindi be made compulsory. But your problem isn't that. You're simply jealous that the North Indians have it a little bit easy compared to you and me.

Better learn good English then and don't crib about English invading your culture and what not.

The argument is not just for Tamil but for all 20 recognized languages of GOI.
