Munshi Premchand had studied in a madrassa where he was taught in Urdu and Persian. His works include both Urdu and Hindi writings. It is wrong and mischievous to term him an exclusive Hindi writer. In fact his Urdu pieces are rated higher. And that's about full stop for Hindi.yeah Hindi comes from Sanskrit which is the most scientific of languages.
Some languages like English,Hindi,German etc are scientific while others like French,Bengali and Urdu etc are suitable for poetry.
Best work I have read in Hindi is Premchand's prose. It is very powerful.

Yep me and others who understand/enjoy poetry/literature.Premchand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rated higher by who ? You ?

He takes himself too seriously . Sadly no one else does .
Tamil nadus choice if they want to speak/learn hindi. Central govt will let them do as they want. We are not like Pakistan in 1971 where Urdu was made compulsory in east Bengal.
Like Sanskrit Hindi doesn't seem very prospective. In spite of all state patronage Hindi hasn't been able to produce a Ghalib, Zhouk, Bahadur Shah, Iqbal or Faiz Ahmed. India should revert to Urdu as the link language.
Bharatendu Harishchandra, Jaishankar Prasand, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Mahadevi Verma, Munshi Premchand the list is so long, now write you comment only if you idea about the Hindi language.
why don't you get the percentage of Tamil speakers in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Mauritius, yourself and where they are located e.g SL
I gave two reasons to support Tamil, why you cherry pick only one- "oldest language" and not the other international reach ?
You still didn't get my point.
Lets say a coin of 5 rs in English-Hindi-Tamil , a coin of 2rs with Punjabi-English-Hindi
Not all coins just some as a sign of gesture.
Cause Chennai has some more self respect than the rest of India. Why won't this topic die
