Why Chennai can't and won't speak Hindi

. .
@Sriram,

That would be Hindi.
Nope even in hindi belt people are learning English these days...

In 21st century hindi has lost its usefulness as link language as people learn english to get better world exposure and access to technical knowledge...

Though personally i'm interested to learn japanese, persian ,no one can ignore english...

Atleast tamil / sanskrit will survive for its rich history , attracts people from world over who do research in it.. i'm doubtful if the not so special languages survive and grow in the next century

.
I dont care, but many Telugu people and politicians want to quote the aryan dravidian theory and say we brahmins are outsiders but the reality is that,it is these immigrants who have no mouth to talk about who is native.

so,i never give up on any chance to show who they really are.

Madam,

Hatred that Tamils have for Brahmins is an intellectual anomaly in itself.

Given the fact that at least two sangams and most probably all three Sangams were presided over by Brahmins and it was a Brahmin who wrote both first ( agastya rishi ) and most comprehensive ( Tolkāppiyam ) grammar of Tamil. If a Tamil hates a Brahmin while being proud of being Tamil, he is infact hating the very people who laid foundation of that culture and civilization.

Without a comprehensive grammar, a language could not survive and Tamil also would have deteriorated into a creole and ceased to exist long ago.

.
Cause Chennai has some more self respect than the rest of India.

And this self respect stops them.

Before Periyar led the self-respect movement down a racist, and weird path IMO, I thought he had many good points.

One of those was pride in your language, heritage ethnicity etc. The most insidious of all colonial tools is to bound the victim in invisible chains of lack of self-esteem and mental slavery.

try to go and live outside, even in hyderabad.

hahaha.

Learning hindi makes you communicate with everyone in the subcontinent, even many srilankan tamils learn hindi for business purposes in the middle east.

Learning english doesn't mean u ll forget your mother tongue, english is only an official language and can never replace hindi as the link language of india.

well, the people who wrote all those things may be brahmins but they wrote it for everyone, not just themselves.

Agathiar/Tholkappiar are common for all tamils.

it is an anomaly because they are confused themselves, dravidian movement is a shallow empty headed movement based on thin ice and just an official excuse for some people to loot the natural resources of TN.

Hindi is still a link language across India, English will never match the extent of penetration Hindi has across India, people only use English for office or academic work.

Happy living in your paradise and self consoling :lol:

many chennai guys who post here are like frogs in the well, there is no problem in not wanting to learn Hindi or for that matter any language but denying the same in government schools to poor children is a sin.

Nobody is bothered about private school children making a choice as to what they want or don't.

I guess u are being emotional and not seeing facts...

Let me explain...

Every guy who supports hindi hears says so in ENGLISH and not in HINDI...
you guys have already learned ENGLISH even though according to u hindi is a better link language...

I fail to see the logic.. Please explain why u guys learned english in the first please if its not as important as hindi..

I fail to see any reason why any non hindi speaker would learn hindi when they can learn learn english that would connect them not only to rest of india but also to the world..

Any person who's mother tongue is not hindi, but knows hindi , will know english also...
Im sure u can agree with that, As no state teach mother tongue and hindi alone .
U either have mother tongue or mother tongue and english (as in TN) or mother tongue alone or mother tongue + hindi + english ( other less fortuned non hindi speaking states)

As u can see its the english language that is going to give give them jobs and not the hindi they learned...

(P.S . ofcourse there are niche jobs for ppl who are well versed in tamil or sanskrit as there is huge research gong on in these languages due to their antiquity cultural and literary wealth . since we are talking about hindi i'm leaving it in P.S)

If that were the case TN wouldn't be in the forefront of all social and economic index ( out of modesty i'm not going to talk about infamous hindi belt states and what they have achieved by hindi language... )

Dude no one is crying from well here, don't get emotional and, just state facts to prove ur points

English is a useful language that's why people learn English in North, but again the fact is English is still a language of an elite, only few can speak it. Most of the people can speak English if they are pursuing graduate course in some professional college or English medium school. Even many people who study English can't speak a sentence in English. So, English can give you jobs but can't get penetration as lingua Franca unlike Hindi even if literacy rate of India reaches 100%. People spend years to master English language and our society generally don't accept people speaking broken English lacking fluency.

Bro only ppl from north come south for jobs:disagree:

That's the other thing, he was refusing to acknowledge that Hindi acts as a link language in most of India.

There are many many working class people from south india who dont dpeak english but speak hindi.

Not everyone gets a white collar job and there are so many people wanting to do business. Set up small shops eateries construction etc etc.

There are so many such people tamil people in mumbai or delhi n otherwise.

Most tamils of sl speak sinhalese too.

U dont have to learn hindi but dont let poor prople starve for the sake of ur ego.

U r the one being emotional giving bullshit theories of annadurai in 2014.
