U.S. fears China attack on Taiwan

American policy is that they don't interfere actively in a civil war situation, something they learned in Vietnam. In case of Chinese attack on Taiwan, US will share intelligence with Taiwan and would try to sanction China over it. Don't expect use to send her men and material to actively attack Chinese forces.

The Biden administration has concluded that China "is flirting with the idea of seizing control of Taiwan as President Xi Jinping becomes more willing to take risks to boost his legacy," the Financial Times reports.
Why it matters: An invasion of Taiwan, the self-governed island claimed by Beijing, would force the U.S. to decide whether to go to war with China to defend an implicit ally.
  • The recent conclusion by the Biden administration is based on Chinese behavior during the past two months a senior U.S. official told FT.
  • After a show of force by Chinese bombers off Taiwan just after President Biden took office, the State Department said: "We urge Beijing to cease its military, diplomatic, and economic pressure against Taiwan."
Adm. John Aquilino, nominee to head U.S. forces in the Pacific, warned the Senate Armed Services Committee this week that the threat to Taiwan "is much closer to us than most think," CNN reported.
Adm. Philip Davidson, current head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, testified earlier this month that the Chinese military is building up offensive capability, making the threat to Taiwan "manifest during this decade — in fact, in the next six years."

Actual translation: America is creating a war hysteria, around the political sabotage it is manufacturing around China.

They are counting on humanity being gullable and naive, based making them ignorant, by bombarding them with LIES (the West like to refer to it as misinformation). Since no idiot bothers to study history, let alone the Noble Qur'an.

We are living in the times of wars and things will only get uglier.
Trump was just a harbinger of days to come. He laid down some ground elements to prepare the world to be ready for some mess. Biden is just an extension to build on that.

Seems like it's the that US that is more worried of such possibility rather than Taiwan itself... 😁
...cuz US doesnt want to get exposed in front of the world when it doesnt come to "defend democracy" when Taiwan starts begging for help the way ISrael was begging for help after 3 0days during that 2006 war..

Translation - Saving Taiwan is already impossible for US.

I think i agree.

These US Admirals have been saying this all along "we are sheeeeting in our pants". The RAND corporation has already revealed that all simulations fighting China in the SCS or the Taiwan scenario the US always lose.
The RAND Corporation is useless source. You will find much better information in American Military and FAS Publications.

Even though RAND does defense consulting for the US govt and military? OK BOSS!
RAND is but a Think Tank source! Big deal. They are not in the position to tell how a war will pan out! Sorry.

I give credence to technicals and not rhetoric.

Agreed. Two preeminent powers tend to avoid direct conflict unless they are prepared for full scale war. For China is a core interest but for the US it is a relatively minor issue.

The view of the eminent statesman Mr. Lee Kuan Yew:
From 11:20 on

He also believed Reunification is inevitable

Rand Corp,
made sure their HQ was in sunny party central California, other offices seem to be in really nice places too. So even if their info isn't accurate at least they and their people are having a good time.
Fascists parasites enjoying a ponzi scheme scam party.

Santa Monica’s not in central California, you might being thinking of the NPGS in Monterrey. Either way, yeah a lot of people probably come for the perks.

US has feared Mainland invasion of Taiwan island since 1949, what is new?

While Taiwan is not as inherently important to the US as it is to China, by virtue of making it the West Berlin on this new Cold War, it is a symbolic of the Thucydides trap battlefield, and in that way it is important.

If Taiwan falls to the CCP, it allows China to bypass the first island chain straightjacket and freely venture into the Western pacific, probably basing an entire new fleet command to the eastern coast of Taiwan.

although for the following reasons a Taiwan invasion is unlikely in the near future. Possibly after 2035, when China feels it is more further along in reaching parity with the US, but not anytime soon.

:) sorry, "party central" is just a term to denote any place that is the central hub for party goers. The place where the good times are.

Do folks ever wonder why USA did not retaliated against Japan immediately after its sneak attack on Pearl Harbout?

Why did USA only choose to participate in last moment in 1945 after Japan has almost lost most of its battles inside China or when it was almost over?

The A-bombs were never needed as Japan had already voiced its intengion to surrender to Stalin Russia.
So in fact USA had committed warcrimes in targeting civilian population.
it was genocidal act by USA.

But in the case of Taiwan, it will be all over before USA can even blink its eye.

A US expeditionary forces to rescue Taiwan?

Dream on.

In stoking war in the region, the objective of USA was not a direct confrontation with China where she can never win today.

USA has other objectives but for China, its mission will be completed with the reunification of Taiwan. :coffee:

Now you just discovered why TSMC is targetted by USA.

Forcing them to build a plant in Texas is step one.

Americans failed in their history. What do theh knlw about Asian histories? That is why they are miscalculating one after another.

TSMC was in fact started by industrialists who came to Taiwan with General Chiang KS from Shanghai, China.

There are many pro-China and anti-USA protests in Taiwan but why are they never reported in the West.

Just like the recent lunar rock collecting mission by China, it was the greatest event in 50 years but Western News Media hardly reported it.

Be smart when reading news nowadays.

Is some dark evil force at work in the world today?

Yes because 75 years later China still hasn’t done anything

Now Taiwan is strong China will invade ?

In your dreams
