South Korea's Korea Aerospace Industries is hoping to seal a $150 million deal with Turkey to deliver 15 additional indigenously-made KT-1T single-engine turboprop aircraft to Turkish air force.
An official from Korea Aerospace Industries, the nation’s sole aircraft manufacturer, said, “We have agreed with the Turkish government to export 15 KT-1 aircraft and the contract will be signed as early as next week.”

The two-seat jet KT-1T (Korean Trainer-1 Turkey) is a variant of the first indigenously developed Korean aircraft, the KT-1 Woongbee basic trainer. In 2007, the state-funded KAI agreed with Turkey to deliver 40 upgraded versions of the KT-1 Woongbee starting from 2010 for $350 million.

hmmm whats up with our own trainer? why do they waste so much money? or do we benefit for our own trainer with this deal or just politics to make more ties with korea? :D

I have no problem in ties with korea they proved themselfes as real friends not like our enemeys in EU like germany..

Cost per unit of KT-1T is $7M. I say what the heck? It makes $105M for 15 aircraft. Where does this $45 go? I am sure even with kits and spares it's not that expensive. I am in doubt.

Demir: KT-1T kararında zamanlama etken

Pakistan’da düzenlenen Savunma fuarı IDEAS’a katılan Savunma Sanayii Müsteşarı Profesör İsmail Demir basının sorularını yanıtladı. Türkiye’nin İDEAS’a en büyük katılımı sağlayan ülke olduğunu belirten Demir, Türk Hava Kuvvetleri’nin Kore Cumhuriyeti’nden 15 adet KT-1T uçak alma talebini değerlendirdi. Demir, “ Türk hava kuvvetleri 40 tane KT-1T almış kullanıyor TAI iş payı almış. Bu 40 alınması aşamasında 15 opsiyon konulmuş. Hava kuvvetleri şimdi “bu opsiyonu hayata geçirelim” diyor. Bunun yanında hava kuvvetleri 15 Hürkuş siparişini vermiş durumda. Müsteşarlığımız ihtiyaç makamının belirttiği ihtiyaçları yerine getirir. Biz bunu değerlendiriyoruz reddetme kabul etmeme opsiyonumuz yok. İhtiyaç makamı 15 uçağın ihtiyacı olduğunu belirttiğinde biz 15 Hürkuş olup olamayacağını sorguladım ancak süre açısından hava kuvvetlerinin ihtiyaç duyduğu zaman ile Hürkuş tam uyuşmuyor. Tarafları görüştürüp sonuç almaya uğraştık ama böyle bir çözüm olursa zannediyorum ihtiyaç makamı reddetmeyecektir. İhracat konuşunda engel oluşturması baktığınız yere bağlı. Uçaklar hazır olsa ve alınmasa engel olurdu. Ama burada durum öyle değil. Tam hazır olmamış sertifikasyon süreci devam eden ihtiyaç makamının istediği anda eline alamayacağı bir uçaktan söz ediyoruz. Ama sonuçta bir algıdır. Kendi uçak yaparken dışarıdan alan bir ülke algısı olabilir. Başkaları bunu kendi lehine kullanarak bizim uçaklarımızı saf dışı etmek isteyenler olabilir. Zamanından önce de olsa kullanıma sokup yerli ürünü desteklemek isteriz. Bu konuda gayretimiz var.” dedi.
