s400 not tested as we know and aster too. we can send some to saudi arabia to shoot down missiles.

National long range defense system project agreement has been signed between ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK SAGE Business Partnership and Undersecretariat for Defense Industries on 15.01.2018. Within the context of the agreement, ASELSAN's share is TL 869.013.861,- and EUR 279.257.600,- and the deliveries will be completed in 2021.

Those two Long Altitude SAM projects have different roadways.

- (1) is a partnership between Roketsan/Aselsan/EuroSam which is joined as risk-share partner for Aster-30 Block1NT. The missile has its own name. We are a risk-share partner of this program similar to Italian and France institutes.

-New contract (2) between Tübitak Sage/Aselsan/Roketsan is pure Turkish with its own specific name which is described as National Long Altitude Air and Missile Defence System aka Hisar-U. First project will support Hisar-U thanks to technological infrastructure as well. National missile is expected to be ready by 2021. The development schedule is short because The project commenced before official signatures signed and National missile may be Hisar-O + Booster with Ka band new seeker similar to Aster-30 Block-1NT.

Hmm, I was under the impression we're still "in the process" of retiring them. Is there a reliable source indicating that they're completely out of inventory at this time?

Right. I know they're pretty obsolete by today's standards but it's better to have even an obsolete system when we need it than to not have anything at all. When the S-400s arrive we can retire them for good, or better yet, use them as targets to test our own SAMs.

Exciting development. We will turn into a country with multiple long range SAM solutions from a country depended on NATO for air defence.

I wish we could have enough S400s in 2023 to establish a dome around the nation. If we could create such a defence system and if the regional conflicts have ended, I believe that as a nation, we could relax a bit more and perhaps even allocate some of the defence budget to other things. If it was our own domestic system, it could be much much better.
