So when are we going to test these systems on a battlefield ? it's fine an all that we're developing them and such, but they're not battle tested.
By 2023 Turkey will have accumulated a very advanced, multi-layered air defense system ready to tackle just about every threat.
High altitude/Anti-ballistic defense
Medium altitude
- Hisar-U
- Aster 30B2
- S-400
- Nike Hercules (will definitely be retired by then)
Low altitude
- Hisar-O/Nokta/Deniz
- ESSM
- Hawk XXI
- Rapier (if not retired by then)
- Hisar-A
- Hisar MANPAD/VSHORAD
- KMS/Stinger
- Igla
- Korkut SPAAG
Hmm, I was under the impression we're still "in the process" of retiring them. Is there a reliable source indicating that they're completely out of inventory at this time?there is no active Nike Hercules.
there is no active Nike Hercules.
Right. I know they're pretty obsolete by today's standards but it's better to have even an obsolete system when we need it than to not have anything at all. When the S-400s arrive we can retire them for good, or better yet, use them as targets to test our own SAMs.There are some batteries active . Source: sonsovalye347 on Twitter. Griks posted 2012 some batteries satellite photos located at Aegean Coast.
