Overall, the military forecasting of DZKK is visionary bro. But an aircraft carrier (a ship which would actually fit the definition rather than make-up ones), I am pretty sure, is pressured by the government. In the near future or for the next 15 years at least, we definitely do not need one at all. Instead, an LHA similiar to that of US Navy's with quite larger hull and capacity would address our needs for next decades if LHDs would not meet the requirements. But a carrier would be a disaster. Everyone knows that such a ship would be sitting ducks in Aegean and Eastern Med. Greeks and Egyptians could easily arm their coasts and islands including southern Cyprus with cheap missile batteries and given the short distance, a salvo of missiles could easily render the aircraft carrier unable to sustain flight operations. And that is only the cheapest solution. No defense is unbreakable. And with a big white elephant like this, it will be a nightmare in Aegean and Eastern Med to sail this ship.
The only idea that comes to my mind is that, years later hopefully we might have oil rigs on seas, but still there are quite cheaper and more effective ways to protect these facilities, especially when you have the most powerful navy in Eastern Mediterranean.
Instead of spending $50 million dollars on a shipyard that is not likely to have any tenders for the next 5 years, the same money could be spend to arm the islands we have control over like the Greeks did and construct fortified air and naval bases in Cyprus. Or just increase the number of surface combatants fit for littoral water. Well, its quite scary when people involve in jobs that their practically have no professional opinion over. Allah affetsin ne diyelim devletin parası çarçur olmasın yeter.
