Turkey set to invade Syria; US to remove forces from area

Seems like a Syrian-Russian-Iranian-Turkish long term strategy to kick US out of the region and put pressure on the Kurds, give up the regime change and return the Syrians in Turkey to Syria as they pose a social and economical strain on Turkey.

Turkey realized that change isn’t happening in Damascus and it cannot keep antagonizing bordering states such as Syria and Iran, especially after the conflicting interests with Saudi Arabia and UAE and cornering it’s rich ally Qatar.

As for the Kurds, they unfortunately always put all their eggs in the wrong basket, always thinking that the US or Israel are reliable allies. I don’t expect a powerful military like Turkey to face any real challenge. The Kurds are not united and have made former allies into enemies which means no one is going to back them up.

There probably will be minimal clashes before a full Kurdish withdrawal similar to what happened in Iraq.

Objectively speaking , The Kurds don't have much of a choice . They cooperated with anybody who can provide them some sort of support and arms to have their own autonomy/self rule and interests . Can't blame them, every actor in the region does the same thing. If I was in their shoes I will do the same thing . Lol

You forget that even Russia(and Assad for that matter) has been cooperating with the Kurds as well? However, I don't see anybody calling Russia and Assad names because of this. lol. It's all about interests , nobody is holy in this conflict not Turkey, not Russia ,not US,or Iran / UK, France etc. All about interests.

So you think Turkey will simply give back the Territory they fought, bled for and invested millions of dollars in back to Assad(someone they don't even recognise as the country's legitimate ruler and who is a Russian/Iranian puppet anyway) just like that? Seems you see things in a very simplistic way. Lol
Agree. Instead, Turkey will expel Kurds or install Turks and Syrians to mix with Kurds. So that Turkey always has a upper hands in the area under Turkey military control. Once Turkey defeated Kurds, Turks will oppress Kurds as they always did.

Erdogan fix ties with Russia and China, US, all for same purpose. Grab the land from Kurds, so that Erdogan will survive in next election.

Turkey does what she has to do...

PKK etc. have already started leaving following the US forces from the ops areas....

These are too small fishes, under the big fishes, to fight at the first place!!! It's the job of the boy scouts!!! Anyway, something is always better than nothing....

To be honest the Kurds are fifth column for the Americans, now with the Yanks packing up their bags I think some federation solution will have to be forced on Damascus I know many Assadists might not support it I do support Al Assad from a pragmatic standpoint the Kurds would have just cause more chaos around the Mid East not just in Syria but in Turkey,Iran, and Iraq

Man 2016 sounds ancient now the Kurds were jumping up and down when the Yanks were boosting them up now look at them now Turkey is getting fatigued over this conflict in 2011 they thought they would be in Damascus in matter of weeks its almost 8-9 years now Millions of Syrians in Turkey who can be a demographic time bomb not good I am glad Erdogan is now more pragmatic but he bears the fault for faning the flames in the first place

Kurds in the region will become a minority, easily outnumber by the Syrian refugees. The land will become Arab land and no longer Kurd land.

What a master stroke by Turkey. It also shows, no matter how much Turkey/US openly show animosity towards each other, deep down they are military allies.

Simply genius by President Erdogan. Well done Turkey.

You have a such a dirty inside that you thing everybody around are the same as you... get a life for yourself pls..

Kurds have sold their drama of women soldiers ready to become whores for American soldiers. Creepy Americans though Kurdish pimps were their natural allies. But hold and behold, Trump doesn't care one bit about Kurds and pointless wars. American establishment must realise they need to stop supporting these rag tag militants.

The Kurds don't have much choice, they will take the slightest chance just for survival. Israel knew it, Yanks knew it, Europeans knew it. Kurds seek Yanks' military protection naturally since they knew what Erdogan want.

Kurds is a card the outsiders will play against all the neighbors. Erdogan refused to obey, Iran fight against Yanks. It's not surprising at all Yanks and Israel find Kurds valuable.

What is surprising is that Yanks decide to let Erdogan do what he always wanted. But I think it may be a trap.

Erdogan knew it's risky, so he went to China, Russia to fix ties, also bought S-400. Erdogan will only succeed when China, Russia, Yanks stay neutral.

Syria war cost Turkey an arm and leg. Erdogan misjudged the war completely, he thought Assad will be killed soon and tried everything Turkey can to destroy Syria. Turkey transported Libya weapons and gave to ISIS and many other militants. Turkey helped ISIS to sell their oil. Turkey as well as Yanks have hundreds of thousands of Arab Muslim blood on hands.

Erdogan's son Berat Albayrak get tons of money from the dirty business.

Putin: Turkey shot down jet to protect ISIL oil supply
the Russian leader said there was "no doubt" oil from "terrorist-controlled" territory in Syria was making its way across the border into Turkey - a claim immediately denied by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Why isn’t the media covering Turkish President Erdogan’s ties to ISIS
Turkey’s assistance to ISIS starts right at the top. In 2016, Wikileaks published an archive of 58,000 emails documenting the involvement of Erdogan’s son-in-law, Berat Albayrak, in helping ISIS market oil stolen from Syria and Iraq.

Now Erdogan try to get land in name of fighting Kurds. I am not positive, he will lose more arms and legs.
