Turkey set to invade Syria; US to remove forces from area

This is bad news for turkey if they enter Syria in a conventional way with boots, tanks and jets, trying to occupy a certain territory.
It’s dirt cheap for other forces to resist in an unconventional way and make turkey bleed billions. Just look at Yemen and Saudi.

If Turkey wants to overtake all of Syria then it would be a fatal mistake but they only want certain areas on the border. The Syrian people will then be moved there and will have own security forces. It will cost Turkey lives but not like Yemen where your fighting to overtake all of the country.

Turkey has remained a super power in the form of ottaman empire. Ethnic turks span from western china, through Pakistan Afghanistan, Turkmenistan till southern spain. Securing their border region in a chaotic civil war neighbor is something many countries would do. How is it growing too big??
That's an incredible delusion, central Asian countries have much closer relations with Russia and China, the good example is that during Turkey Russia crisis over downed Russian jet, all central asian nations chose to side with Russia against Turkey, central Asian nations don't feel they have any special bond with Turkey at all. They are Chinese neighbors and allies, all of them are members of China led SCO.(The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) . They all support China over Xinjiang issue.

Dear smart Chinese, take a look at the thread, the rest to be taken care of by your smart brain:

  • The Turk Council.

Even in EU countries still fight, a council doesn't mean anything, whose side countries take means much more, they all side with Russia and China in various global issues, China and Russia have much more influence in those countries than Turkey.

China thanks Kazakhstan for support on Xinjiang

how many times must the US use the kurds like a washed up prostitute and throw them in the trash can before they realize the US is not their "ally".

but just a violent drunk, who considers you their side side chick to use and abuse at will? absolutely pathetic.

Let turkey go to town on these US puppets / traitors to the Syrian state.

Turkey is more aligned with Russia/Iran today then it was a few years ago. when it was aligned with wahabi arabs and the west to topple the Syrian government at any cost.

turkey will eventually have to hand back the Syrian territory its occupying to the Syrian state. its only a matter of time before the Syrian state becomes strong enough to ragain full sovereignty of its land. anybody with 2 braincells can see the direction that this is going.

Turkey has all the UAV technology to make the operation go smooth..
on the other hand, local people will provide turkey with the inteligence which is the most important thing..

Securing borders with imposing a well wisher govt is need of time

Objectively speaking , The Kurds don't have much of a choice . They cooperated with anybody who can provide them some sort of support and arms to have their own autonomy/self rule and interests . Can't blame them, every actor in the region does the same thing. If I was in their shoes I will do the same thing . Lol

You forget that even Russia(and Assad for that matter) has been cooperating with the Kurds as well? However, I don't see anybody calling Russia and Assad names because of this. lol. It's all about interests , nobody is holy in this conflict not Turkey, not Russia ,not US,or Iran / UK, France etc. All about interests.

So you think Turkey will simply give back the Territory they fought, bled for and invested millions of dollars in back to Assad(someone they don't even recognise as the country's legitimate ruler and who is a Russian/Iranian puppet anyway) just like that? Seems you see things in a very simplistic way. Lol

The Syrian state offered them many times to join the NDF, or national armed forces and rejoin the state. they chose to plot against the syrian state with a foreign enemy (the US with accompanying pro-Israeli policy). Their only cooperation with the Syrian state were limited, and local based on pragmatic interest. (for example Aleppo YPG was at first pro-terrorist when they were winnign, were neutral when there was a stalemate, and cooperated with the government when they got the upper hand). this is a pattern that has repeated everywhere.

Russia tried to woo them, and soo did the Syrian government. with the exception of some local isolated cooperation. the ypg as a whole and matter of policy (foolishly) chose the US wholeheartedly.

absolutely.

this is an evolving war. that looks different by each passing year. a few years ago "assad must go" was the exclusive rhetoric of all western governments, and turkey. Where assad was a genocidal butcher who had to go. After reality on the ground hit, nobody talks about that anymore.

Turkish policy today is a lot different then in 2011-2015. if the Syrian government regains sovereignty elsewhere, in a few years time it will become impossible for turkey not to give it back..

there Is no legal justification to blatantly occupy and annex another country. this is not Israel or the 19th century anymore. turkey would create a major enemy who would actively assist the kurds into bleeding it out if it doesn't leave. or it will most likely come to its senses. hand territorty back to the legal government, and cooperate with each other against Kurdish separatist.
