Election is far from democracy. Law is a prerequisite for democracy. Without law, there is no democracy. British tradition dating back to Magna Carta gave birth to modern democracy, taking power from the king and giving it to the people. Middle East don't have that tradition. Heck, not even Germany is a democracy.

Looks like the Syrian chapter of the Operation Inherent Resolve have met its logical end with the fall of ISIS-dominated Hajin pocket recently.

Bro, this declaration of "victory" is reminiscent of Bush's declaration of victory after the IRaq war- They were both done before the US had to drawdown or withdraw.
Why didnt US tell Its British and French allies? Why is this withdrawal looking kind of hasty? Something is up. It could be that more pressure will come down on Trump to withdraw Syrian troops after democrats take over the US house. I'm not sure whats going on ,but i'm pretty sure this declaration is victory is not a real declaration of victory.

Let me tell you how hastily this decision is. The Yanks are leaving their Kurdish allies high and dry. The Yanks will have zero footprint in Syria. At most some batteries over the border in Iraq to mount erratic attacks or air strikes which will obviously kill scores of civilians. Probably some rougue CIA operatives to fill the void. It is basically a lost cause and the Americans are running with their tails behind their backs.

Friend, it was important for the US to conclude its Operation Inherent Resolve at some point, and this declaration of victory coincide with the fall of Hajin pocket - last known stronghold of ISIS in Syria few days ago. US commenced this military operation in 2014 to preserve its investments in Iraq and save it from ISIS*.

- but ISIS movement have collapsed in Iraq, and breathing its last in Syria by now.

Occupation of a country should not be extended for indefinite period for the sake of addressing its problems, because overseas nation-building experiments have yielded mixed results throughout history. Syria have its own administration, and it is wise to burden it with nation-building responsibilities in Syria instead.

Important aspect is what kind of understanding US (Trump administration) and Turkey (Erdogan administration) have reached in regards to Syria. Let us see.

The Pentagon is pissed. The American war machinery is in a rage at the moment.
