Top 10 Armed Forces in the World

.
These top ten ranking never make any sense to me,

the rankings don't mean much, as long as the military protects the nation in case of war, more importantly prevents war.

.
see now children this is why we do not listen to the bull sht Zaid Hamid preaches because other people whom actually have half a brain simply pity you

You are trying to match a 1,2 billion populated country with a 180 million population country.
It is like comparing(in nature) A wild bull (2000lb) with a lion (400lb), this latter can make the bull sweat and fear for his life day and night, but the lion knows that he can not kill that bull by himself only in some exceptional circumstances. But this doesn't make him less of a danger to the bull, as a matter of fact it is a life threatening danger as long as their territories coincide and a matter of survival as long as the animal instinct is concerned.
Now the bull wants to have the teeth and claws of a lion on top of his own horns. but de-naturalised animals do not survive for long, since they get to fight nature itself.

But today, These nations should concentrate more on their socio-economic and advance their education systems to counter and balance the animal instincts still running in human genes and blood.

The reason I included Germany in this list is because, they are one of the 5 members of NATO nuclear sharing (along with Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, and Belgium). Turkey, Italy, and Germany all have big economies, big armies, and a lot of land weapons.

This your own ranking...So no body cares.....

.
If the Indian land forces are wiped out before they run out of imported ammo is another scenario to account for. In Kargil 97,000 Indian Army Troops came to fight 2,200 Pakistani Troops.

In mountainous conditions (where Kargil was fought) you need at least a 9:1 advantage if you are looking to dislodge an entrenched enemy that has the high ground. Educate yourself before opening your big mouth and making yourself look like an ignorant fool.

This thread rocks. :yahoo: im new :smokin:

Russia couldn't afford a large modern conventional force up until now....their defence strategies relied on use of nuclear wepons as a deterent for all kinds of attacks in the 90's...but more and more they are growing the budget with each year that passes.

And also like someone noted, a lot is in the background of the country, its ability to project and sustain a force, also the combat experience.
In this day and age the systems who have their own category( ex.: F-22) are few and far in between, many have miniscule differences on paper so crew training and tactics are crucial.

But pound for pound, everyone should be scared of the US or NATO-and for a good while to come...

Why do people tend to ignore Japan? Why is Taiwan at 15th what do they have that puts them above Pakistan?

Why do people overestimate S.Korea? They are 11th at best.

1.) USA
2.) Russia
3.) China
4.) India
5.) Japan
6.) France
7.) Germany
8.) Britain
9.) Turkey
10.) South Korea/Pakistan

. . .
I would actually agree with him on his Japan placing. If say India and South Korea were to go to war , Japan would have the upper hand.

Wait what, how does it even relate to Japan with India and south Korea going to war??? I don't get it.

. . .
I think the best way to look at is do a regional comparison and from there rank countries by their military there and then assigning points out of 10 for Air Force, Navy, Army. Marines will be included in the Navy and Special Forces will be included in their respective services. Missiles will be included in the Army component to keep things simple.

I am assuming this is a non-nuclear comparison and only conventional military applications are being used.

Air Force + Navy + Army
Americas:
USA (10 + 10 + 10) = 30
Canada (6 + 3 + 5) = 14
Brazil (5 + 5 + 4) = 14

Europe:
Russia (9 + 6 + 8) = 23
England (8 + 9 + 8) = 25
France (8 + 8 + 7) = 23
Germany (8 + 6 + 8) = 22
Ukraine (7 + 2 + 7) = 16
Sweden (6 + 3 + 5) = 14

Middle East:
Israel (8 + 5 + 8) = 21
Turkey (7 + 5 + 8) = 20
Egypt (7 + 2 + 7) = 16
Saudi Arabia (8 + 2 + 4) = 14
Iran (2 + 3 + 7) = 12

South Asia:
India (8 + 5 + 7) = 20
Pakistan (7 + 3 + 6) = 16

Asia:
China (8 + 6 + 8) = 22
South Korea (7 + 6 + 8) = 21
Japan (7 + 7 + 6) = 20
Taiwan (6 + 6 + 6) = 18
North Korea (5 + 5 + 7) = 17
Australia (6 + 5 + 4) = 15
Singapore (7 + 4 + 4) = 15
Thailand (6 + 4 + 4) = 14
Vietnam (5 + 2 + 6) = 13

So from this, if I were to rank according to the numbers, the top 25 Militaries on the planet.

1 - USA (10 + 10 + 10) = 30
2 - England (8 + 9 + 8) = 25
3 - Russia (9 + 6 + 8) = 23

5 - China (8 + 6 + 8) = 22
6 - Germany (8 + 6 + 8) = 22
7 - Israel (8 + 5 + 8) = 21
8 - South Korea (7 + 6 + 8) = 21
9 - India (8 + 5 + 7) = 20
10 - Japan (7 + 7 + 6) = 20
11 -Turkey (7 + 5 + 8) = 20
12 - Taiwan (6 + 6 + 6) = 18
13 - North Korea (5 + 5 + 7) = 17
14 - Pakistan (7 + 3 + 6) = 16
15 - Ukraine (7 + 2 + 7) = 16
16 - Egypt (7 + 2 + 7) = 16
17 - Australia (6 + 5 + 4) = 15
18 - Singapore (7 + 4 + 4) = 15
19 - Saudi Arabia (8 + 2 + 4) = 14
20 - Canada (6 + 3 + 5) = 14
21 - Brazil (5 + 5 + 4) = 14
22 - Thailand (6 + 4 + 4) = 14
23 - Sweden (6 + 3 + 5) = 14
24 - Vietnam (5 + 2 + 6) = 13
25 - Iran (2 + 3 + 7) = 12

Can you explain why on earth you have given more points to Israel in Navy and Army?

Israel v Turkey in navy:

Frigates:
Israel: 0
Turkey: 17

Barbaros class frigate:
800px-Ae_ag_tur_F247.jpg

Yavuz class:
800px-Turgutreis_F241.jpg

G-class:
800px-TCG_Gaziantep_%28F-490%29_in_Cartagena%2C_2010.jpg

Corvettes:
Israel: 3
Turkey: 7

Submarines:
Israel: 3
Turkey: 14

FAC:
Israel: 0
Turkey: 27

And you give Israel a higher point in navy, child go play with your toys this is not a place for children...
