mate japan has a law they cant attack countries as far as i know not being rascist but my freind japanese i asked him why dont japan get a very strong army there such a big economy he said after WW2 disaster we totaly rely on america we are allies nobody can do anything to us and he said they have a law which means they can only defend in a war---ALSO ISREAL 3RD? LOL THAT IS A TOTAL JOKE THEY HAVE ADVANCED THINGS BUT THEIR LAND SIZE , POPULATION , LOCATION WITH ENEMIES ALL AROUND MEANS THEY ARE NOT EVEN IN TOP 10 MAYBE 11 THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN PUT CHINA AND ISREAL ON THE SAME NUMBER OR RANK

Japan's constitution doesn't allow them to build large attacking force. But if needed, they can jump start really quick. For Israel yes I agree that they have limit strategic land space. That's the reason I said it depends on where the fight happens. If Israel is next to China then definitely they are no match.

It is hard to quantify the list. The sure fact is that US can take the rest of the countries combined. Russian is no double the 2nd at this stage. For the rest I am not sure. Most list are number based. You have to consider economy, resource, wartime manufacturing capacity, battle experience, training, technology capability of a country, etc. Most people seems to ignore Japan, that I think it is a huge mistake. I'd rank it before even China. My list:

1. USA (No need to explain)
2. Russian (Still a giant, technology, experience, self-sufficient resource, huge land)
3. Japan/China/France/Britain/Israel (Hard to rank them, all able to produce advanced systems, depending on where the fight happens)
4. India (Big country, big economy, a bit behind the above tier in terms of indigenous production)
5 Turkey (Big economy, growing technical experience, etc)
6 South Korea/Pakistan (Indigenous industry)

LOL If you put Japan and Israel on par with China, even our friends from India here would disagree with you.

If the Indian land forces are wiped out before they run out of imported ammo is another scenario to account for. In Kargil 97,000 Indian Army Troops came to fight 2,200 Pakistani Troops.

For me it's a mater of top 3 and the rest are just puppets in those 3 giants chess game

1. United States of America.
2. Russian federation.
3. People's republic of China.

Even if china is on a rise the Russians are far more advanced then the Chinese.
(at lest for now)

Russia's performance after 1991 has been disappoiting due to lack of funds and USSR collapse . Today things are much better than the chaotic post Soviet 90s. The "MONEY" may not be there but when it comes to military tech Russia is still one of the best.And for missile defense I think there are international treaties banning space weapons ,heard of Polyus and Beriev A 60?

FYI India produces its own ammunition and cartridges manufactured by the OFB and just recently the production line for upgraded Bofors FH77 guns has been opened by the gov't now of course China would try to invade India but we would not fall like France in WW2 we'd make sure we would not let you advance without heavy losses besides those new bofors guns will easily make Rou Ji Mo out of the PLA

Ahhhh I misread the title and thought it was Top 10 "Air force", was wondering why you guys brought up land force. For overall armed force, it is completely different story. US/Russian/China/India/Turkey top 5. South Korea should not be on the list.

Russia has the biggest natural Gaz reserves of the world, and a lot of "money" now a days !

Turkey is one of top 10 armed forces in the world and 2nd to the US in NATO.
