The Burning South - Live Simulation Thread

Hi SQ8 and other members,

Thanks for posting this realistic scenario.

The number of attacking aircraft is very real---. The enemy would try to overwhelm the opponent in the first few strikes if possible.

I am glad that most posters agree on that.

I remember the first time I wrote on I believe defense dot info forum in around 2006---that in a future air war---aircrafts in the numbers of 50 plus would make the start of the air war directed towards one majpr target---boy did I have an interesting response

India vs China 2028
Ha Ha. 2030, but that was taken up with such cavalier disregard for the needs of rules; it boiled down to a couple of lines drawn on a map, a few self-congratulatory messages, and the departure of all in a state of great self-satisfaction, to return to what they do best.
For India to stand a ghost of a chance, the later it is, the number of years after 2030, the better it is. Until about 2035 or so, the Chinese lead is overpowering.

In the example set out, two brigades of the Indian Army were given the task of cocking a snook in the face of the Chinese. It turned out, on examination, that it was possible to deploy two Group Armies against them (roughly an Army Corps and a half each, about 60 to 70,000 men), along with those goldurned HQ-9s and vast amounts of other things, within two weeks; to stop all intervention from taking place by cutting the hill roads using heli-borne special forces, and to contemplate capturing Ranikhet and Almora.

This childish behaviour is really not appreciated.

Particularly vulgar abuse about a dead soldier. Whatever you think of Indian soldiers, this language does not belong to a public forum. You crossed a red line.

@Desert Fox 1

If I had been you, I would have begged and prayed for that post to be deleted. I would not like to have it left on record.

Fortunately, I am not you.

Mine is about Cricket match that will take place in reality.

Any Pakistani team - any Pakistani player - is welcome in Calcutta. Ask Shoaib Akhtar. Eden Gardens does not play favourites; it is always, always for good cricket, though, of course, it is hoped that India will be the gooder cricketers on that day.

We Bengalis are hospitable people.

Try to remember what the South Africans did when they came out of exile. What venue they chose for their first international match. And see if you can find pictures of how they were received, or their memories of their welcome.

There is a time and a place for everything.

Was the IAF conducting dumb bombing runs with the Rafales? How did they lose 6 Rafales in a single day?? And not just Rafales the attrition rate of other aircraft is way too high as well. I personally don't think they would do anything like this in real life, but i guess that's the point of simulations, to get an idea of what not to do.

If it were up to me I would sack the Commanders responsible for this operation :D

@SQ8 I have C:MO (and consider myself pretty well versed in it) so if you need technical help or otherwise let me know. I know a thing or two about Aerial Warfare in general as well.

We didn't do well. Used aircraft far too much more than we could have.

One of the strongest lessons that came through even in that first pass was the criticality of SEAD. That was a specific. A generic was about balance. We were not balanced.

That, unfortunately, is something that is reflective of real life true, in this case.

Finally, if you see the expenditure figures, you will find that we were up against rock-solid defences.

If it were up to me I would sack the Commanders responsible for this operation :D
Not an IAF tradition. A field promotion was handed out instead.

I know a thing or two about Aerial Warfare in general as well.
Damn!

You wear the wrong colour underwear.

Speaking of SEAD, there is something very cool Rafale can do, while it does not have ARMs for SEAD, it has two things which allow it to conduct DEAD, namely, SPECTRA and SCALP. Using SPECTRA's excellent ESM capabilities you can easily geolocate enemy SAMs (triangulation helps) and send a SCALP their way from well over 100 miles!

that i do

Not only that, your Rafales can convey that information to Su-30s carrying BrahMos and that way they can also help with the SEAD/DEAD

So yeah, It might be prudent to first conduct a massive SEAD/DEAD operation with Rafales and Su-30s from standoff distance before sending in rest of the pack.

AFTER this is over, I'd be obliged - all of us would be obliged - if you could take our attack roster and the casualty lists and give us your opinion about it.

The SEAD/DEAD was lacking in numbers but also the AD was grossly underestimated.

That’s good
May I we can do a Pakistan side input and Indian side and let it run.
But keep in mind as a CMO user that when you add in 1000+ elements(aircraft, missiles of all kinds, Land units, sea,EW and so on ) it will drag your machine down so better have a good processor going.

I checked with the others. We are all keen.....but another ten or fifteen simulation days to go yet. We're still on the 16th/17th September 2026.
Perhaps lets use him as a consultant for all of you especially since my workload is a little high.
@Princeps Senatus your underwear may be colored one sided but if you can so solemnly swear to the best of your ethical abilities to remain neutral than you can be added to both groups to jump in as secondary resource for making changes to the save file.

Delighted, if you agree.

The matter of colours can be handled very easily; saffron on one side, green on the other and white dividing the two. That sounds fair to me!
