Please don't mention China's reunification here. TSMC is never a reason for the reunification. TSMC will be useless for China after losing west technology and equipment support.

China has probably already “priced in” that TAMC will be lost, but perhaps not all of the talent.

China will have to catch up technologically with TSMC or get close enough that should it take Taiwan it can try to recruit the talent there to work in their fabs. Getting out the talent early on in any war and destroying the facilities will mean, unless China thinks it has caught up enough, not just in semi-conductors but all major industries as well as build resistant supply chains, it will probably not attempt an assault on Taiwan.

Other than the native American people everybody here came from somewhere else. So everybody is just as much of an American as the next person.

But if you really want to go down that route and head back to the OP how come with over 1 Billion people China didn't create the integrated circuit? Why is so much stuff you use every day invented by "dumb Americans" and not much by the Chinese? Or better yet a country full of people great at math could not invent the bicycle (France) and 60 years later leverage that into building the first airplane (US).

It didn't take millions of dollars in research to build the first bicycle and neither did it for the first plane. Just people who saw something and put their minds towards doing it.

Nope, a war against China would make them insantly irrelevant. It isn't moving manufacturing, it's expanding manufacturing.

They are moving hundreds of experienced engineers, something they can’t replace or replicate, not to mention moving of the equipment instead of purchasing new ones for capacity expansion.
