I don't wanna call it this is the best one or that one is the best and make it India vs Pakistan thing. Some people wear it because it is convenient to wear. Not because of nationalism.

Sari is somewhat difficult compared to Salwar and kameez and when you go to cities the dress even gets shorter.

I would actually hate myself if this becomes a thing.

Imagine the amount of ISI agents Pakistan will suddenly have. Inko tankha kon dega?

Shalwar Kameez is a Pakistani dress.

Perhaps the Muslims in India may wear it as well.

Afghanistanis definitely wear it as well.

Desi and white just a handfull but when i was young you never did. This only in england and the states i seen this just think they trying something differant. When i was young dont think many men of my dads age would have let their wife wear a sari because to much skin on display for their conservative nature

.
my people were wearing Shalwar Kameez when Gangoos had piece of cloth wrapped around their sparse mid-riff and their women had a piece of cloth wrapped around - call it Saree or what ever. Now all these half naked junglees have copied us and today they think they are "it".

I was going to do that but then all the Afghan haters would be jumping up and down.

Really is this necessary? I mean you do realize that you can feel good about yourself without trying to insult or put down others right?

This could have been a thread that taught us about culture. But now you've just reduced it to trash. So please get ready for the mudslinging to come
And do remember that you started this....

I made a statement of fact. Majority of your people until not long ago were half naked. I have no idea how making a statement of fact contra-places discipline? Even your Gandhi in order to be "one of his people" went around half dressed - alluding to exactly what I said.

That is fascinating.

Sad people mock him for being naked to the thread and the truth. He was the naked truth.

He even got killed by the same mob he had enlightened.

If that's true (it should be noted that I used IF) than these things can be said politely too, not just in rude manners. These statements can be easily categorized as trolling.

Interesting.

Well, I call this progression. But definitely it is Pakistani dress today but anyone can wear it. Even my Swedish friends bought a few Qamees Shalwars and they looked gorgeous in 'em.
Listen to what she has to say about Pakistani dress

feel good about yourself
I guess they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" so I should be pleased. But true to form most Indian will warp facts and then declare Shalwar Kameez as Indian as Gandhi. Then cite some dubvious source from Wiki or some other weird referance sas proof it is "Indian". That annoys me. If they acknowledged where it came from and that it is a superior to Sari - respect.

Well even I never liked sari. That's the truth. Now, if you are satisfied, then let's close this thread because it is becoming a complete mess.

Well if you were so confident about the origin of the said dress, why the need to open up a thread?! nay a poll for that matter?
Shouldn't you have a little more confidence in what you consider a staunchly Pakistani attire?!

So pray tell, what is your source for the origin of this attire that makes it undisputedly Pakistani?! I take it you have some ammo to back up your statements to show that it is NOT Indian.

That is fascinating.

The only ones mocking him are Pakistani!
No Indian mocked his choice of attire nor his intentions...

It was not for me. It was to size up the forums perspective.

Then I suppose it isn't as Pakistani as you make it out to be if you have to inquire!

Like say the Jodhpuri suit is undoubtedly Indian (also one of my personal favorites). No two ways about it. Does the Shalwar Kameez have a place of origin in Pakistan that can be pin pointed?
And are we just basing origin on polling now or are you going to provide us with some sources?

I usually follow your threads because they are rooted in history based on verifiable evidence. Youre disappointing me Kimo sabe! Thought I would learn something.

The forum is not just Pakistani - or is it? I would never ask that question in a all Pakistani audience. If you carry a snap shot. Say in 1970. Vast majority of Pakistan was wearing Shalwar Kameez. Those not wearing it [minority] were either Indian migrants or those living adjacent to Indian borderlands in say Thar Parker.

Do the same in India 1970 and 90% of India was Sari. That tells you something.
