Russia is a much better ally than US of A. We have been suffering presler amendment type things from US constantly. I can't name one country happy with their partnership with USA.

My friend, it is better not to think about "allies". There are strategic relations which usually are temporary. For example, this current situation in Ukraine has effected Russian calculation, but in a few years, Russian-Iran strategic relations could disappear because the Russian may have a better offer from the Americans. These situations are very dynamic.

There is rarely any "partnership" with the US. The Americans are only happy when countries follow their x and y commands. When a country is independent, they're automatically the enemy of the US.

Iran never truly had such a great relations with them anyway. I remember people say, the Americans sold Iran F-14 and Iran was the only country to get it. But here is the reality. Even during Shah's time, when Iranian aerospace students, pilots etc would be in the US for training and learning, in lectures, when the lecture in the class turned into something like technology for space etc, the Iranian students would be sent out of the class!Thus, Even druings shah's time, the American would not only not give Iran technology transfer, but would not even allow Iranians to be in a room when they would talk about the technologies in a lecture.

Ultimately, a country needs to be independent and strong and if you find nations whom have similar objectives, then by all means try to develop a strategic relations with them, but never assume they're an ally.

Russia always was lacking behind in terms of drone technology so this development doesnt come as a suprize in the slightest. Contrary to Russia, Iran has build MALE class drones which Russia is eager to get its hands on.

However suggesting that Russia will give crucial key fighter jet technology in return is delusional. Either the Russians are making an financial offer the Iranians cant refuse or certain alternative transfer of technology has been proposed(me thinks air defence technology).

Iran is behind Russia when it comes to sensors and electronics, if Russia wants drone tech then they should be aksed to jointly develop drones with Iran. Russiawill get drones and Iran will get better drones
