The crash site tells you that it wasn't fired from a ship, thus rules out Caspian Sea and probably from a bomber. But why would a missile from a bomber fall so deep into Iran and no way close to Syria!

Kh-555 is an air launched cruise missile , it was launched by either a Tu-95 or a Tu-160 which flew over South of Iran
the cruise missile also flew over South of Iraq before hitting its targets deep inside Syria

Commander Says Drone That Crashed on Friday Was Iranian

TEHRAN (FNA)- Commander of Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli announced on Sunday that a reconnaissance drone which crashed near a Southern city on Friday belonged to Iran.
"The drone was an Iran-made drone and we brouth it down during a drill and during a test of preparedness," Esmayeeli told reporters in Tehran on Sunday.

Local officials had stated on Saturday that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which had crashed in a region near the city of Shoush in Southwestern Khuzestan province on Friday was a foreign drone.

It's obvious like broad daylight that it's a cruise missile, I don't even understand the debate about it and worse, people claiming it's freaking UAV.

Why some members try to sugarcoat it ?.I don't get it. Definitely a Russian cruise missile . Some of these missiles fail to change their altitude .Specially in Iran .Zagros mountains .. anyway who cares...

Interesting.....its obviously a Russian cruise missile. Anyway in all conflicts/wars mistakes/accidents do happen, this doesn't in any way means that Russia is incapable per se, though some of their equipment are not really up to date, but they are still very potent and more than enough for their campaign Syria. The Russians have been flying their bomber through Iran en route to Syria for a while now, so i don't see whats the big deal here and even more funny that some members are trying to deny that its a Russian cruise missile or that Russia doesn't fly over Iranian airspace into Syria.

It looks like the bomber dropped the missile but the missile failed to ignite it's engine so it crashed as it impact on soft land.
