But seriously, I dont think its Russia fault. They give advise but you decide to go against their wish regarding the boiler shield. For example, I am an experience mechanics. I know how to fix your car but you as an owner are to proud to listen to my advise and insist on going non traditional ways to fix it. Then I will not bear responsible for any consequence. If anything happen, of cos I will demand more money to fix it.

Totally agree with this. Russia and India have good relations, but its a transactional, business and political relationship. Why would countries be buddies? Thats retarded to think so. Back in the days of the cold war, it was cold war politics that helped us. America sided with Pakistan, and therefore the Soviet Union sided with India. That relationship has continued to this day, yes, and I think there is lots of experience in dealing with Russian defence industries, but that doesnt make them friends in the truest sense.

But this is the same kind of relationship between Pakistan and China as well.

BTW is Russia trying to make money off of India just because they have lost a lot of contracts? I seriously think we should either:

1. Scrap the project. But that will be stupid considering so much of work has already gone into it.
2. Bring the damn ship to India, and fix it HERE. Use that experience in building the INS Vikrant as well!

The ship was being built in Russia because that was the condition of the gifting contract. India has already paid the money for it, so scraping it right now would mean forfeiting all that payment. Also, if you bring the ship to India, it would constitute a breaking of the contract, and Russia can simply refuse.

I have to say the Russians are shrewd businessmen, haha.

Buddy its the problem of my country, instead of acquiring important tech. even through reverse engineering which even defense officers have said to acquire it anyhow, we take it on ego and pride while countries like Russia demands more and more.

Should we be ethical to some extent, yes but if the other party is not showing it, its better to take things on our hand and do what's necessary.

If people of India can understand the benefits of reverse engineering, they will find that time involved in developing critical weaponry will drastically reduce so will the COST.

The money saved can be invested in other projects then.

In defense, no need to take higher ground of being ethical. Are US, France, GB, Russia ethical when they sell their product, some refuses to give important tech. and may impose sanctions at war time, some asks too much money and we have to pay a lot for it no matter how much we try to bargain.
