I think you are reading too much into this. The audience were university students and this was an answer to a specific question, not a stand-alone statement or a declaration.

Tomorrow if he is asked a question about whether the army will protect the so-called Islamic Ideology of our state he will answer in the affirmative.

Will your views change about him than?

Radicalisation of society was a state-backed project and these things are not easily rolled back.....the slide in Pakistan has been stopped but not reversed.

The current DG ISPR seems to be reactive and doesn't know the intricacies of how to handle certain issues or questions, unlike his predecessor who was most impressive in setting the narrative himself rather than being reactive to different points raised.
