Generally speaking, those from the first wave in the 70’s and 80’s are doing GREAT.
Those that came to the US at that time were generally educated. Doctors, Dentists, Pharmacists, Engineers etc.
In the mid 90’s up till now, not so much.
I don’t have stats to back this up, but anecdotally from my personal life, Bengalis are doing extremely well.
US census data disagrees with you. The 1st wave was doing OK (not great)...definitely not bottom 10% percentile like the entire BD average is now....has more to do with the much lower numbers trickling in back then. Once you open the gate more, the riff raff (of more typical BD people) has come in and stunted your performance....as can be found in all waves in the UK.

Bangladeshis are incredibly intelligent and resourceful. But laziness is a vice for sure.
Bangladeshis are doing extremely badly...and intelligence and resourcefulness is the exception, not the norm. No one cares about personal stories when we are talking about a macro-entity. I mean I can highlight successful Bangladeshis I personally know and the atrocious bad ones too....but I dont have the overall larger vantage point, thats where a census comes in...and it is plain as day to see how Bangladeshis perform even in the US (which is probably the country they do best in, as atrociously as it is):

Add on top the laziness (probably from too much rice consumption) and its no surprise Bangladeshis have atrocious health and diabetes (1 out of 3) affliction as well:

The socioeconomic performance in the UK is even worse. It can be posted next if you want to see it.
Now to the video. Don’t cherry pick with time stamping. Watch the whole thing.
From the tone beginning to end this production was skewed to be pro India and anti Pakistan.
That being said, listen to the answers of the people.
Some are pretty insightful for a layman.
And as for immediately 2:42 onward, understand who is saying what. All sorts of opinions exist in BD.
Those people happen to be pro-Indian.
Point to one that said Indians are more lazy and less industrious than Bangladeshis. That was the specific thing that bluesky picked up on. You are the one expanding to other opinions and comparisons that have nothing to do with BD potential of a potential of paper plane industry.
Where work ethic comes up in the video, India is mentioned as better than Bangladesh (I believe twice). I couldn't care less what Bangladeshis think about India socially or politically....given what they are and always will be...and the permanent complex of lieing and sheer deluded groupthink.
They can hand over the hard earned coin and hard won political control to us in ongoing payment (that we define) for liberation...and that is all that really matters. We dont expect or want anything else.
Final point.
As time goes on, what I seeing is that if India keeps up its shenanigans, more and more Bengalis are waking up to that fact.
Again on an anecdotal level, people who were personally affected by the Liberation War and harbored hatred towards Pakistan have softened their stances considerably in the present day.
They are recognizing that the Muslims of South Asia need a strong Pakistan.
And maybe India isn’t such a great big brother.
Is that the best you got? LOL. Bangladesh is a cork bobbing up and down on its own effluent that everyone more or less ignores geopolitically. A banana republic basket case backwater ...euphemistically assigned "LDC". Only country in the world where 1 million people can be shoved into in matter of a few weeks and the best it can respond are tears and fist shaking.
Nobody wants your "support", its proven toxic with very long historic experience. Plenty of Pakistanis here and elsewhere say Bangladeshis are backstabbing #$#%'s that will only harm Pakistan (or any country basically) with its fake feelz support. Nowadays Myanmarese agree and Indians increasingly agree....and you can even add plenty of Chinese too (because of the BD twit feelz against Myanmar main benefactor).
Keep it to yourself and invest in more pilkhanas when you arent busy worshipping the fat dopey lady that we put there....and the grander 3 million paranoia hoax. How many countries were established on a complete utter lie after all?...and protected to this day even when shown (and pretty much secretly admits the error of magnitude but wont change it because of loss of face)? Bangladesh must be the only one. Quite fitting given the quality and nature of its people.
