Tht journalist who tweeted this...still stands by it..and says its not a rumor..its true tht he had decided to resign.....so i am more interested in knowing abt it more... Kia hua ..exactly? Also did u ppl...see the new controversy from patwaris and their anchors..regd Justice Khosa? Patwaris and their anchors say..tht Justice Khosa plagiraised the first few lines of his verdict?

Agar plagiarise karna hi hota..tu kia sirf 2 lines hi kartay? I think....patwaris and their anchors dont know..tht Justice Khosa uses literary references in allmost all of his verdicts... Even in Yusuf Gilani's case...he used Pity the nation poem and added his own modifications... Ab patwaris keh rahay hain ke shuru ki 2 lines plagiarise ki hain? Culdnt they have come u with any bettter controversy regd him?

The incompetent former DG ISI was justifiably ridiculed by an MNA. Even a child knows that the Army supports Hafiz Saeed. THIS IS NOT A LEAK!!!!!!

I can understand where we are heading. I posted a new thread on "Hindu Zionism" that was deleted on grounds of religious content. All it had was a video of Zaid Hamid analysing the current Hindu extremist BJP government. So I believe the enmity between Pakistan and India has nothing to do with Muslim vs. Hindu extremist. What a shame. I wonder why we have this forum in the first place!

Modus operandi of real power brokers has changed - they rule behind the curtain and let politicians like Zar & Shar (read in Urdu) face the flak while all positive market spin goes into their bucket.

Weak and compromised PMLN and PPP suits them a lot and these two will never go out of power - and all power brokers within and outside Pak wants that.

Get used to this system and stop complaining is usual advice you'll get if you talk to any high level bureaucrat or any politician - actually any 99% of Pakistan's populace (I may be too angry to pitch it that high but it's definitely a huge majority) enjoying the lives of haves are ok with what's happening.

SC acquits man two years after his death

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court has finally exonerated a man who was convicted of murder and handed down the death sentence by a sessions court in April 2004.


But the acquittal has come two years too late.

Apparently Mazhar Hussain, whose original appeal against the death sentence was turned down by a high court years before, died of coronary failure about two years ago while still in incarceration. He did not live to see the day when he would be acquitted.




Even the apex court was unaware that the appellent had passed away in prison.

Seven or eight months before the murder, there was a quarrel between Hussain and the nephew of the deceased, Muhammad Ismail. Police registered an FIR of the killing of Ismail.



Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Asad Raza handed the death sentence to Hussain under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code in April 2004.

After the Lahore High Court upheld the verdict, Hussain took up his appeal before the Supreme Court.

The top court took up his case for the first time and granted leave to appeal in September 2010.

On October 6, after the passage of six years, the three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa resumed hearing of the case. However, no one had appeared to prosecute his appeal.

The bench availed the assistance of Advocate General Islamabad Mian Abdul Rauf, who was unaware that the convict had already passed away.

The apex court in its order observed that there were glaring omissions in the prosecution’s case. It also raised doubts about the medical evidence and the claimed presence of witnesses at the crime scene. From the medical evidence it was clear that the witnesses were lying about the time of the murder.



As the prosecution had failed to prove the case against Hussain beyond reasonable doubt, the apex court set aside the sentence and acquitted the accused and ordered his immediate release.

Later, family members told media that Hussain had died while serving out his sentence.
