Panama Case JIT: Names of the members proposed by departments revealed

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court has received the reply to the letter which had been sent to the departments involved in the Panama Papers case Joint Investigating Team for nominating the relevant officer for the said purpose.

Supreme Court (SC) has on Wednesday received the names proposed by various departments to constitute the Joint Investigation Team for probing the Sharif family regarding Panama case verdict.

SC received the names from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Accountability Bureau (NAB), intelligence agencies and Security and Exchange Commission. The names will be approved finally by Justice Ejaz Afzal upon his return to Pakistan.

According to sources, SECP has proposed the names of Muzaffar Mirza, Ali Azeem and Usman Hayat. FIA names Additional Director Wajid Zia, Additional Director General Captain (r) Ahmad Latif and Additional Director General Dr Shafiq Ahmad.

Moreover, NAB has named Balochistan NAB Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi, Karachi Director General Farmanullah, Operations DG Zahir Shah and Lahore NAB DG Saleem Shahzad.

Justice Ejaz Afzal will return to Pakistan on April 30 and he will approve the names.

The thing is every passing day we are getting news that are not very encouraging. Just like Dawn Leaks..

I told you, about Panama, I still don't understand why the two judges disqualified... and why the 2 judges didn't even suspend.

So I am taking a balanced approach here.. But on Dawn Leaks, it is something beyond my comprehension.

The latest news I have heard about Dawn Leaks is that it is a temporary relief, however, the same happened in Memo Gate and the relief became permanent..

So I am taking everything with a pinch of salt.. Hopefully you guys will bear with me..

Can anyone tell, tht why is it only Advocate, who will finalise the names????

So, if its Advocate who will finalise the names....of JIT...can we expect any good now?

And why was it necessary for him, to go to Turkey, to attend a conference..at this point..when JIT was to be finalised...within seven days..which he himself proposed? He could have excused him..from tht conference, stating his work committments?.

Bro Memogate was not maligning of PA, whereas Dawn leaks is! Even if top brass wanted to bury it, they can't .. it has potential of serious unrest in the lower ranks.

Commission report can't stop PA from arresting those named and prosecuted. And during prosecution, truth will come out about Massi Musebete.

Are we expecting any good from JIT ? Atleast i dont, i gave up on this JIT thing on the very next day of the judgement, i hope sharifs goes for review petition, JIT is a dead horse.

The six departments, which were assigned the task to submit names for the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), have submitted their list of names to the Supreme Court. The departments tasked for the proposal of names include civil institutions, NAB, FIA, SECP, SBP, and two military institutions, the ISI, and MI.

Each department had been directed to come up with three names, out of which one shall be picked by the Supreme Court to head the six-man JIT which is to report back to the court within sixty days.

The JIT will be supervised by a senior FIA officer who has personally investigated a white-collar crime and is not below the rank of Additional Director General. It will comprise of a nominee of SECP who is familiar with money laundering and white-collar crime, one NAB representative, seasoned ISI and MI officials, nominated by their director generals, and an SBP officer.

Moments after the announcement of JIT, members of political parties had different reactions. Some were of the opinion that the Prime Minister would be in trouble, while others believed that JIT would just be a “dry-cleaning shop” for the Sharif family.

Now, the first and foremost question is regarding the capacity in which these individuals forming the JIT will be acting. Will they have access to the resources of their respective institutions or will they be acting as individuals and using their own expertise and judgment? These concerns become all the more important in the case of military representatives. How will their individual skills be relevant to the case at hand? In this country, JITs have, unfortunately, a history of being notoriously non-consequential when it comes to investigating the government hence it is imperative that the veil of ambiguity surrounding these questions be lifted.

Moreover, the military’s corps commanders had also pledged, on Monday, that they will make sure their participation is going to be transparent in JIT as directed by the Supreme Court.

I think somehwere around 15 junse se shuru hoti hain.. Lekin kab tak hoti hain..ye pata nahi chal raha exactly.. Google bhi kiya lekin kuch sahi pata nahi lag raha

Agar 15 june se start hoti hain.vacations....tu 60 days ki JIT main jo monitoring bench ne har 15 days baad hearing karni hai...uski last two hearings affect hongi, most probably.. Aur abhi tu ye nahi pata ke kab tak hoti hain? JIT ki findings ke baad jo dobara hearing honi hai..is panama bench ke saamnay..woh vacations ki wajah se kab tak delay hoti hai???

Kal dawn channel par jo Meher Bokhari ka prog News eye aata hai..us main SC ki summer vacations ka zikr aaya..tu mujhe bhi khyal aaya..iska....ke acha...abhi ye bhi tu aani hain...

How will FIA, FBR, SECP investigate a Prime Minister's corruption when the reason for taking the case to Supreme Court was that these departments had failed to do so in the first place?

Knowing Pakistani culture fully well, didn't Supreme Court realize that officers involved in this investigation will be pressurized, black mailed by ruling Sharif family mafia? How will you investigate Nawaz Sharif when he is a sitting PM?

This is going the same way as Dawn Leaks scandal.

In Pakistani culture, there is deference to a senior rank and junior rank is some time treated in a derogatory manner. Supreme Court must be fully aware of our cultural shortcomings.

Crux of the matter we need to get rid of these political mafias and military intervention is not a solution. Military intervention have actually made these mafias stronger.

Someone told me that officers are very angry.. There is a general disagreement on what's happening.. They are being told that it is just a trap for shareefs. But I am not believing anything for now.. until I see any action..

You may see arrests in early morning hours any day.. you may see nothing, with Maryam's media cell again doing the tricks. I am just looking forward to the information that I have.. but the history tells us otherwise in such cases.. so not very much hopeful..
