Pakistan has a strong structure that it is standing on, we have a strong military. don't you think they haven't tried. As far as Pakistan is concerned: we are quite safe from the west.
No point as Libya was doing very well under Qaddafi. Don't think they hated him. @jamahir , can you elaborate?
libya was indeed a most comfortable society materially with no homelessness ( unlike mighty usa ) and things/services were either free or subsidized ( unlike most countries in the world )... this a difference from before 1969 when under the nato puppet king idris, libya was citizen-wise the poorest country in the world where many of the urban poor lived in tin huts... this ( Libya With Gaddafi ) is a generally recent thread ( with vid ) about the ease of life in libya until 2011, brought by gaddafi and his revolution.
( The Libya I Once Knew ) is the rememberance of a brazilian journalist on his visit to libya in 1979 and what he found there...
The Libyan not willing to work would receive the equivalent salary valued today of $ 7,000 USD per month.
Plus, doctors, hospitals and medicines were all for free. Nobody paid for education in a Libyan school and whoever wanted to continue their education outside the country would receive a substantially good scholarship.
It was a habit in the country that if someone did not like the car anymore, he only had to abandon the car with the key inside. This was the era of Libya.
Just to have an idea about Gaddafi's Libya, everything sold was about the same price, $3 USD. There were gigantic supermarkets, but nothing was sold at retail. Anyone wishing to buy rice, for example, would pay $ 3 for the 50 kilo bag. Everything was sold on that basis.
At the door, I asked the ambassador if he could give us a testimonial about Gaddafi. "Gaddafi is a genius," he said. Surprised, I asked him, "Do you really consider Gaddafi a Genius?" "Yes! A Genius!" he said.
gaddafi's 1969 al-fatah revolution brought true freedom to libyans via the unique direct-democracy system developed there... the ladies of libya especially were especially liberated from a lifetime of oppressiveness and this vid ( A Libyan Girl's Message to Obama & NATO on Their Aggression on Libya.flv - YouTube ) is a famous one from 2011 in which a young libyan lady delivers a message to obama and nato and makes them known of her love for gaddafi and the libyan jamahiriya system... gaddafi's female guards, irrespective of the nonsense nato media puts out, were a living symbolicism of his confidence in womankind and his dearest wish to bring true liberation to the females of the world.
materially and spiritually, libya was comfortable, despite decades of attempt by nato to overthrow the socialist system there via supporting of reactionaries and the corrupt... it was for nothing that in 2011, 40+ militaries of nato invaded libya preceeded by thousands of terrorists/psychopaths... by the end of 2012, it is said that 150,000+ libyans died and in the most horrendous way... some cases are documented here ( Rebel Atrocity Videos :: www.uruknet.info :: informazione dal medio oriente :: information from middle east :: [vs-1] )... the nato regime-changed attempts in libya and syria are two of the biggest international conspiracies in history.
in jamahiriya times, water was considered a human right that must be available to the citizens without tax or fee, and towards this end early on, and not many people know of this, libya began constructing the biggest water delivery system in history - the "great man made river" project", called by gaddafi as the "eight wonder of the world"...
GMR (Great Man-Made River) Water Supply Project - Water Technology
Libya’s “Water Wars” and Gaddafi`s Great Man-Made River Project | Global Research - Centre for Research on Globalization
to summarize some of the material benefits within the libyan system...
1. any person interested in engaging in farming was given free land by the system, along with seeds, tools needed and housing, for free.
2. electricity and water was free ( that too in a largely desert country ), and libya had history's largest irrigation system, "the great man-made river" project ( gmrr ).
3. housing for any citizen was to be lived rent-free until the resident wished... rent was considered a compromise on the freedom of the citizen and therefore anti-human.
4. medical system was free, and if treatment was available outside, the costs would be borne by the system.
5. education system was free, and if that course was available outside, the costs would be borne by the system.
6. education was of one's choice and could not be forced by parents or circumstance.
7. food was at low cost.
8. any person interested in establishing a business was given a start-up amount of 20,000 dollars, interest-free.
9. all loans were interest-free.
10. no private banks operated in libya.
11. for a person not in employment, he or she was given the average salary ( stipend ) for the person's choice of field of employment... in fact, this was a coming-down in later years from the early days of the al-fatah revolution... in 1979, a unemployed person was given 7000 dollars per month !!
12. libyan jamahiriya being socialist, all wasteful traditions were frowned upon, like 600-guest four-day weddings like what happens in south asia.
13. at weddings, the bride and groom were together given 50,000 dollars to help them set up a new home etc.
14. car purchase was subsidized by the system.
other than being comfortable internally, libya sought to extend its revolution and political system to other places in the world and also help every rightful liberation and revolutionary movement everywhere, including the anc of nelson mandela ( Watch Nelson Mandela's answer to a question about his alliance with Gaddafi - YouTube )... as a aside, do watch the full version of that talk.
the works and words of gaddafi ( a true internationalist/transnational leader, a world leader ) made him a threat to the hegemony sought by the nato alliance early on...
twice in 2011, as the war raged, tripoli twice had "million man marches" in support of gaddafi.
at present, many libyans are actively agitating for a return to the jamahiriya era when flew the green flag... this collation is from august 2015 ( manifestation pro kadhafi Aout 2015 Libye - YouTube )... please do explore that yt channel for more vids and updates.
