So Fateh 1 is a ballistic missile not a rocket?
Without going into too many details. Any weapon which follows a parabolic path or trajectory is a projectile, such as artillery round.
Add a propulsion source to this projectile, such as a rocket motor, it becomes a ballistic missile, or artillery rocket, both have same physics.
Anything that doesn't follow a trajectory/ parabolic path / ballistic path, and has an engine attached which fires all the way , from start to end, becomes a cruise missile.
That also shows the difference between cruise and ballistic missile. Cruise missile has propulsion all the way. But ballistic missiles being driven by rocket motor, has propulsion only in the initial part of the journey. The motors burnout quickly, then fall off as stage separation, or stay in place but have no fuel. These motors generate so much thrust in short time that the kinetic energy keeps the missile going all the way to the target.
Now add a few small wings at the front or back or both, actuators to move them for making adjustments to missile flight path, and a controlling guidance system, and the missile becomes GMLRS , or its bigger version, guided ballistic missile.
Now add lift generating surfaces , as In wings , in addition to guidance and maneuvering fins, the missile can glide part of the way, after rocket motor burnout, and becomes Quasi Ballistic missile.
