What's new

Pakistan today conducted a successful test of Fatah-1 - ISPR

These would be used to strike static targets. Moving targets would be extremely difficult to target with ballistic missiles. It would only make sense to use them against armored/mechanized brigades if equipped with a tactical nuclear warhead.

For moving targets we have UCAVs, Fighters, and Cruise missiles.
But these are guided rockets. Are you calling them ballistic missiles going by their parabolic trajectory? Is there any feature of course correction in these rockets? Does the guidance play a role in informing that course correction, or is it only for the target acquisition?

they got my post deleted concerning the same "expert".

oh the irony! they preach freedom of speech at me if n when I report some bullshitter.

once I reported an outright lie and I was told by a mod that it is an opinion not a lie. I always thought some thing contrary to the fact was a lie.
It's turning into Rakshite forum by the day

No offense, he looks passed the age to effectively command a corps, need some fresh blood up the army ranks.
How do know his age? PA follows a very age driven hierarchy so very difficult to be an outlier. Maybe he doesn’t dye his hair and beard.

Two questions:

1) Is this a significantly different system than the A-100?

2) Are the launchers being used the same as the A-100 or are they indigenously produced as well?
Our neighbor's are calling A 200 of China.

.
So Fateh 1 is a ballistic missile not a rocket?
Without going into too many details. Any weapon which follows a parabolic path or trajectory is a projectile, such as artillery round.
Add a propulsion source to this projectile, such as a rocket motor, it becomes a ballistic missile, or artillery rocket, both have same physics.
Anything that doesn't follow a trajectory/ parabolic path / ballistic path, and has an engine attached which fires all the way , from start to end, becomes a cruise missile.
That also shows the difference between cruise and ballistic missile. Cruise missile has propulsion all the way. But ballistic missiles being driven by rocket motor, has propulsion only in the initial part of the journey. The motors burnout quickly, then fall off as stage separation, or stay in place but have no fuel. These motors generate so much thrust in short time that the kinetic energy keeps the missile going all the way to the target.
Now add a few small wings at the front or back or both, actuators to move them for making adjustments to missile flight path, and a controlling guidance system, and the missile becomes GMLRS , or its bigger version, guided ballistic missile.
Now add lift generating surfaces , as In wings , in addition to guidance and maneuvering fins, the missile can glide part of the way, after rocket motor burnout, and becomes Quasi Ballistic missile.

Only two things matter, range and accuracy. Range is always kept secret, accuracy is shown. Quality of the video's released to public, are purposely kept poor.

I'm sure a shitty video on Twitter / news channels was able to convey that.

Seriously? Atleast with the Ghaznavi tests they were crapping in their pants.
In this particular case, a vague statement will hardly make a dent.
A100 is unguided, this one is guided. A100 has a low range, this one has a higher range.

Two questions:

1) Is this a significantly different system than the A-100?

2) Are the launchers being used the same as the A-100 or are they indigenously produced as well?

Its both very Easy and Difficult to explain .... Every Missile is basically a Rocket but every Rocket is not a Ballistic Missile, keep in mind both use rocket motor.

In reference to unguided Rockets it is easy to understand as Guidance is the main factor which create differentiation b/w Ballistic Missile and unguided Rocket, but now rockets are also guided for example Bora Missile/Khan Missiles, SY-400 even Nasar are Guided Rockets but are considered as Missiles, actually this category is very murky and therefore guidance could not be taken as the ONLY Standard Differentiating Factor to differentiate b/w Rocket and Ballistic Missile now Range and Payload are also the Factors which play role in categorization of Rocket and Missile.

For ease of understanding any ballistic vehicle powered by rocket motor with less than 300 KM range and payload capacity of less than 500 kg could be included in the category of Guided Rocket.
Fatah is a derivative of Nasar Missile for conventional use .... it is said Fatah use some of technologies and research develop for Nasar Missile.

Thanks for clarifying

Exactly which is why Pakistan's entire doctrine is offensive based nowadays. Going for the throat is the only solution. incoperating IEA forces to bolster the armed forces could also become handy. These hardy people are a stragetic winning hand. There is just no way in hell the Indians can counter these people in the frontlines. Just imagine well trained, drilled and armed Afghans bolstering the Pakistan armed forces lines. The Indians could import or even clone 30 billion of themselves there is just no way they could contain or compete with them.. They would be overrun and lose the initiative entirely. In this case Pakistan could utilize them greatly and even overrun the entire sub-continent with these war-dogs but you have to yield them in the right way. They are certainly gifted in warfare.. Not all humans are created equal in god's eyes some excell than others in some areas. The afghans don't only offer Pakistan stragetic depth due to a great terrain but they also offer human qualities that can be yielded as a sword
Chalo bhai!!! Now we have another Lathi to bolster Pakistan. My brother all of Pakistan's wars will need to be fought by Pakistan and not by anyone else. The moment we realize we are on our own and win or lose, victory or defeat this is one battle we will have to fight ourselves to the last man woman and child, is the day Pakistan's kismet will change from a bunch of beggars to a nation of proud and independent people, who fear nothing other than Allah.
On another serious point traditionally the Afghans have always been good at fighting utilizing their terrain. Their tactics are akin to Gorilla tactics. Their only misadventure was when they tried to fight the Northern alliance and they were massacred. So great as they are they will be defeated in a war they are not aware of ,trained for and disciplined enough to fight.

So the missile is indigenous and is called a Fatah right?

and the launcher is imported? because it looks exactly like an A200 launcher

and the launcher is imported? because it looks exactly like an A200 launcher

all the missile carrier trucks in Pakistan are Chinese Origin as far as launcher tubes are concern Fatah-1 has longer tubes than A-200 one can count the ribs of rocket container tubes

even the Truck is arrange differently in Fatah-1 Truck have separate cabin for firing unit, but it is not available with A-200
