hey its my statement. u cannot copy and throw it on me like that
and we all know Pakistan has always operated single engine air craft. and J31 is likely to be ur first twin engine air craft.
J16 is big heavy and expensive. we can buy couple of J10b instead of few J16 which are very unlikely to join

PAF operated
Nanchang A-5
General characteristics

If the news is true then Pakistan going to operate our different kind of fighter from 2018+ JF-17 F-16 J-31 and J-10B

both are harsh facts............ our navy will not induct any sophisticated aircraft as long as our air force is thirsty.
and IN operates Mig29K and few harriers, naval varient of Tejas will be deployed soon. and PN need J16 to beat them? don't u think we will be kind of over doing in aerial battle? J10 can beat all of them.
and reason behind J10b selection is its similarities with our thunders and falcons. J16 is entirely different plate form............ and money is the most important thing to count too. and we don't have much. particularly for navy? nah

Both J-10 & J-16 use the same engine WS-10 so it would not have a major conflict with JF-17. IF PAF does go for J-10 along with JF-17's it would have no effect on PN. PN is going to change her aging fleet of Mirage fighters that it has been maintains by JF-17's and to compliment to deep strikes in the Indian Ocean it would require J-16. This would also indicate that Top cover is provided by both J-10's and J-16's to both PAF and PN. If you do have time search on PDF there are PAF pilots who are or have flown the J-16's. So it is not impossible that J-16's may be in PAF or PN but may be they are in a very small number (18-22 Stop gap till F-31's arrive).

On the other hand if PAF decides to purchase the F-31 that also uses WS-series of engine which would also not be very different from WS-10.

Some times one has to device a strategy that seems like over kill to counter the enemy. IDF tactics and equipment is all over kill for the kind of threat it is facing and this is also true for Singapore.

yeah

I know we have flown several twin engine aircrafts too.(friendly nations)
and J16 path will be cleared by J10.8-)
if air force go for J10 then navy will have a chance for J16 too. but again its air force which will decide its and naval aviation fate:coffee:

I remember reading some where that when PN gave the PM their requirement they asked for J-16's but at that time PM said PN should go for a Pakistan manufactured aircraft hence they were forced to buy JF-17's. Now things are changing at a very rapid pace so perhaps there is some sort of after thought on getting the original request. It is not likely that PAF would have the final say because recently PN got some pilots trained from other place than PAF. More over the Navy has also set up independent facility for maintenance so they are slowly getting to the point where they can say what they actually want.

J-10 is too big and can be easily out maneuvered.
If every one think like u f 15 SU 30 F 22 and other fighter jet who has best record world never seen and u missed the canard on j 10 too different fighters made for different role and J 10 is multirole low cost compare to F 16 and sane quality so don't talk unless u don't know

India me jangi junnon ka much humen bhi jawab Dena hoga much naya laka

why J16 is so necessary for Pakistan? their is minor chance of J10b and for J16? no way ................
I agree that J16 has much more range but range is not the only deciding factor.

To support PN in offensive and defensive role Pakistan need twin engine plane in class of F-18/15 or Su-30 because endurance and survivability at sea are very important points to be treated. Single engine J-10B is good over land but at sea out take on large enemy which also have advance tech, twin engine advance jet is a must for Pakistan.

I'm feeling that India is going to get naval varient of Rafale for their Aircraft carriers..

It should be

Yes they were planning but as now deal is collapsed so they will not go for it. Instead Indian navy will focus on naval variants of Tejas............ Their Harriers are almost gone and Mig29K is a tough opponent indeed and they are the back bone of their navy aviation arsenal.

Thats what i'm saying, Jf-17 is perfect for Pakistan's defense requirements, we dont need anything else fancy.

We need 6 odd squadrons of medium range and heavier payload bearing aircraft, Jf 17 hasn't got the stamina and strength to carry heavier loads and go far and deep, it's not designed for that, it's primary role is to replace f7 f7p and older mirages and boost the numbers of modern aircraft in our inventory.

We need Medium Multi Role Aircraft that can go further can carry more.

Current situation is different it's changing day by day, our neighbours are aquiring numbers and latest technology, We can't keep pace with that buck for buck but we can spend our resources wisely by buying second hand f16 maybe 40 odd to push f16 to 100 plus, Get J 10b get 36 to start with and then build on numbers from there to about 120, with Jf 17 200 all blocks just leaves us to buy j31 but we don't really need that till 2025 odd if the above is achieved.

Look honestly....the time for 4th gen and to some extent 4.5 gen is ending in my opinion.

It's better to simple save up and directly go for a 5th gen platform...which is better than playing catch-up for the rest of our lives I reckon.
