The P-42 especially equipped Su-27 variant its exceptional T/w ratio and larger sq-ft per weight wing took 55 seconds to hit 40k ft but here we have a “true” claim to fame for an aircraft with a lower T/w and wing area.

Addendum; even the F-15 has a max rate of climb at sea level of 50k/ft

Correction: Misinterpretation of rate of climb. General term is Max Rate of climb at sea level.

Most aircraft brochures (not fan made ones) will not list rate of climb simply because it is a subjective figure.

The rate of climb is at sea level - so when the F-104 takes off its capable of going at 50000ft a minute. But that is not what happens - as it climbs and the air loses density at altitude this rate drops significantly.

Umm.... the poster actually does say 59k ft /min is 'rate of climb'. Perhaps you guys thought it mistakenly said rate of climb instead of saying rate of climb.

Well, then it seems to represented correct and I am wrong in misinterpreting it(although still not sure of the 59k/minute) - It would then make sense because the F-16 is around the same - the block 10 could do 60k/ft a minute.

JF17 max climb rate per 2012 Yang Wei presentation comes out to be around 49k/min and may have improved over subsequent blocks.

did u ever try to convert 59Kft/ min to m/s? try it and then apple to apple comparison. you will get a clearer picture
