This begs the following questions:
-what was the point of the JF17 if our adversary was already fielding/had placed orders for more advanced jets?
-what's the point of the J10C if the Rafale can outgun it?

JF-17 is not meant to be top of the line fighter but can still take on Indian top of the line fighters. I re-call a news where it said JF-17 poses significant threat to Rafael.
J-10 is close to Rafael and can be equal or better. Rafael's slight advantages do not hold in all circumstances.

You have to understand the technicalities of the machines based on their electronic packages and weapons.

The JF18 BLK 3 with aesa and PL15 would be as potent as the J10C.

The only issue here is that the BLK3 has to go thru integration of weapons and ew package as well as pilot training.

1) Rafale is bigger and better jet. more endurance more capacity
2) it is better and bigger than JF-17 because of its bigger size, bigger engine more payload and more capacity to power all the systems.

I am no expert on this but multiple credible sources are claiming J-10C has an edge over rafale in some aspects specially the BVR missiles it carry.
PAF acquired these jets to counter rafales so they are no stupid to acquire the whole squadron if they can't counter rafales.

In the hands of Pakistani pilots there is zero doubt that it can bring down rafales in 1 on 1 engagements. 1 on 1 rafale has no advantages

I think its hard to know given exact details on missiles, EW systems and other aspects of both aircrafts are closely guarded. Some will say Rafales are better due to perceived or otherwise better french systems etc but then others will say PL-15E will hit the rafale before it can hit the J-10c, or others will say the EW suite will jam the missiles and fire back. Its difficult to know, but we can be confident PAF got these for a reason.
