Why is PAF continually inducting US F-16's? I mean we can't use these jets independently. Chinese weapons might be inferior but they are jammer-free for us!

Pakistan cannot fight against USA or any of its allies not just because of US made weapons but because she simply can't... Pakistan's only threat is India and F-16 can do the trick for that with low price...

And by your logic, Flankers and Rafaels are useless against Russia and France..... What is the point?

Actually, anything that we have operated, still operate and may operate in the future will always be insignificant and potentially useless against the US. Their air wing (Air Force, Navy etc.) is so massive and so much more advanced then the rest of the world. They can potentially take on the whole world in the air simultaneously and still come out victor.

There are other factors where the US can be beat, same as others. Beat in the sense that the US can be hurt potentially just as much as she hurts you, strictly speaking of destructive damage.

Coming back to topic, our learned men believe that the PAF F-16's can take on the SU-30MKI and beat it, they also think that J-10's can take on the Rafael's and so on. Ofcourse by the time India gets her hands on PAK-FA, we will get our hands on something to counter that. And remember, we do not have to match IAF numerically as any advantage that IAF holds over PAF in numbers will be neutralized with our air defense systems and EW systems (both ground based).

The smart thing to do with US is to not go into shooting war with a superpower - any superpower at that. That would be sucidal at best.

Pakistan is trying to over-reach its capabiltiy of prjecting power beyond its own borders. It armed forces (Conventional) are designed from outset to defend its own territory and have very limited offensive capacity.

The issue of F-16's or any other western weapon(s) and their capabiltiy only crops up when we start dreaming about going head to head with a superpower in a conventional conflict.

If we ever do get into a situation where we get head to head with a SP, it would be a time to pray hard and unlock the locks on the nukes. Because that scenario would be an end game scenario from our persepctive. They would live to fight another day -- we would not because we can not reach their homeland.

Therefore, this unending scenario building and debating what will happen if we end up in shooting war with US and its allies is pointless and futile exercise to build a doomsday scenario.

Other options need to be explored to AVOID that confrontation.

The weapon systems that have been procured or are being procured are in the context of our neighbourhood. To give persective to my argument, even China thinks hard to openly confront US at this point in time. It will, spme time in near future, but at its time of choice and when its prepared to have a evenchance t ocome out on top in a conventional sharp, but short conflict.

The ideal from China's persepctive would be to force a situation where USN backs down vis a vis Taiwan straits -- that would be a big win for China. But only when they are ready to take the challenge to US.

We should learn from this.

THE QUESTION & THE THREAD IS A VERY GOOD POINT.

Not only are USA weapons useless AGAINST USA but also AGAINST USA ALLIES & USA strategic interests.

30 years AGO INDIA was USA enemy or a NON ally. IN CONTRAST PAKISTAN was a USA strategic ally. IT MADE SENSE to buy USA weapons.

TODAY india is a USA friend and parter and a growing merging interest. the indian business comunity of usa has massive influence in pentagon.

IN SHORT USA will not support Pakistan or its F16s in a war with india (that is a known) fact.
