Not in our country: Japanese fight relocation of US military facility

.
Well
I am not sure what kind of reaction the world will take if JAPAN decide to arm with nuclear weapon...
Usually it is not welcomed..
You can try...

So you see necessity of the United States' presence in Japan. It prevents us from proceeding with Nuclear Armament. The latter is only natural if GI Joe is to leave us....:-)

.
ha ha ha, i like that analogy, Pee Chai @somsak

I am Pro Japan Nuclear person.
It will have a very strong impact on politics.
If Japan has Nukes, She will dare to say "No" to anyone.
I know when that happened, Japan will say the word apology to China and Both Korea with dignity.
I know when that happened, East Asia will be in peace.

How very optimistic of you, Pee Chai.

Japan is too small to be a super power
and too big to be an ordinary country...

And that is why Japan can sleep at night while North Korean / Chinese threat are lurking somewhere in the neighborhood :azn:

We're not worried about China because we have a working relationship with China (despite political squabbles over the Senkaku/ Diaoyutai). We are more worried about North Korea.

With China, there is an honor system set in place, not to mention that both Japan and China are bound to each other's 1978 Treaty of Peace and Friendship.

There is no such thing with North Korea.

Japan is too small to be a super power
and too big to be an ordinary country...

We never had any designs to be a 'super power'. Japan is just a medium sized nation. There are only 3 nations with the potential to become super powers (and im not including the United States because she is already one): 1) People's Republic of China, 2) Republic of India, 3) Russian Federation

That's not how Abe sees it, wasn't he the one hammering of China causing instability to peace in the region? :azn:

One has to learn to see through realpolitik talk, buddy. There's a 3 pronged agenda Abe has in mind.

.
Do you really think these north Korea fireworks can hit some where in Japan?
North Korea is only threat to China and south Korea..

What I means is Japan is a economy super power, but not a political super power.
This kind of situation makes Japan want to transfer to political power, arming itself, pursuing something beyond its capacity.

China's military growth is used as pretext for greater military modernization and arms purchases, lifting of the military arms ban, bypassing the 9th Article of the Constitution -- what is the goal ? The eventual normalization of Japanese Military.

China has not fired missiles at the direction of Japan, China did not launch missiles that flew over Japanese air space. Nor has the Chinese Government threatened to strike Japan. However, the North Koreans? Yes, of course they have.

Several year ago, they tested their MRBMs , which had entered Japanese airspace before it crashed into the Sea of Japan. The fact that they launched such a missile is cause for concern.

And I might also stress that tho China and Japan have politicized the Senkaku Islands, not once have the Chinese fired missiles at us or even entered Japanese airspace.

The reason for this is because there is an existing honor system between Japanese and Chinese military commands and personnel. Something that does not exist between Japan and North Korea.

I don't understand how a country would be a okay allowing military base in their country to protect them, especially if they consider themselves a great power. LOL

Italy is home to 113 US military installations, German is home to 56 US military installations, South Korea is home to US military installations, and Japan. Yet these 4 nations are considered major powers. :-)

.
Problem is that normalization of Japanese Military will do Japan good?
I think the conflict with China, Korea and Russia are all for small island.
No one will target main island in Japan
If Japan military is normalized, the conflict may spread to main island of Japan.

For north Korea, they don`t have many missile to fire...
It is only pretext...

Why not? Simple cost-benefits analysis can identify threats, and adopt policies needed to evade such threats.
