PMLN's 10,000 MW claim is totally baseless. We are producing a total of 20,000 MW with a share of more than 10,000 MW from private power plants (IPPs) whereas government owned generation units were already producing 6000 MW before 2013.

Ex Minister for Information Maryam Aurangzeb today claimed a more bigger lie of 15,000 MW which should be debunked. I will post here some website links and screenshots of NTCD control room screen.

PMLN's projects only added 4000 MW in 5 years with tens of billions of dollars investment.

You dont have to post a thread on it.Everybody in Pakistan knows it

Ok so let's count

By Punjab Government
1180 MW Bhikki Power Plant
1223 MW Balloki Power Plant
1230 MW Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant

Under CPEC
1230 MW Sahiwal Coal Power Plant
1230 MW Port Qasim Coal Power Plant
880 MW Wind Power project

Various other power projects
969 MW Neelum Jehlum Hydropower Project
147 MW Partind hydropower project
106 MW Golen Gol Hydropower Project
1410 MW Tarbella 4th extension project
680 MW Chashma 3 & 4 Nuclear power plant
400 MW Quaid e Azam Solar Power Plant
425 MW Nandipur power Plant
225 MW Bagasse power plants

I can provide the pictures of each and every project... Also in 2012 Pakistan was generating 10,814 MW while demand was 16,814 MW.

But now in 2018 Pakistan is generating 20000 MW while demand is 22-23K MW and installed capacity has gone up to 29K MW

So if current generating capacity is 29K , so why we are not generating then?

Whilst we are producing more power our system of power distribution is shoddy

We need a major upgrade of the country's power transmission system

Our loadshedding problem was never about just power production

Yupe exactly
The feeders are tripping because of the load the transmission system can't bear the load reason

LOAD SHEDDING

you missed the figure... as you said Pakistan was generating 10K while demand was 16.. did you know that the capacity was "19K at that time :) so in 2018, they generate 20K and demand is 22 ... clearly evident that PMLN in real just increased the capacity of 1000MW... :)

Actual generation capacity of the plants are lower, hence the probes by auditor general and NAB.

And there is also another hydro powerplant down for repairs which was advised to be shut down for repairs earlier but PML(N) had pressurized to keep it operational till May 31st. Now it's had additional damage and has been shut for repairs.

Nevertheless PML(N) did do a better job than the PPP government, but much more can be done.

Besides production another problem is losses in the system. The gov should pay attention to it because at the moment whenever we increase production, losses are also increasing. Need to have a sustainable method to control losses.

They know it very well but you cannot teach the fools .

Sir g devil is in details, for example Port Qasim project comprises of two power plants of 660 MW each only one is operational till to date....

Nelum Jehlum is also incorrect figure as out of four plants only one is operational ... I have checked only two plants and both figures are miss-reported. Kindly do the homework first and then quote ... Pictures means nothing ,,, otherwise nandipur is the perfect example of making us fool ...

Furthermore, wind power, solar power and hydal power generation v/s capacity varies alot, whatever you are quoting is the installed capacity, actual generation is much lower specially in case of solar and wind ...

@AbuzarIlyas

Promise was of improving power generation which they did. As far as private power producers are concerned this policy was promulgated by Zardari in 1994, who in order to cut a stake for himself blocked govt. investment for setting up public owned power units and pushed for private producers in power sector.

Even if the generation is more than demand the outdated high loss feeders in KPK, Punjab and Sindh as well as faulty power lines would continue to affect normal and consistent power supply. For that investment and will is required from the govt. Major cities around the world has underground power supply. So many people die due to fallingpower lines in KArachi and Lahore during rains and storms and electricity is affected. This issue will be solved permanently.

PML-N had not only built Punjab Govt. owned units, also signed with China to build 700 KV power line from Matiari, Sindh to Punjab. NTDC and our pathetic bureaucracy continued to delay it due to their systemic laziness, this year they only kept half of the proposed allocation in budget for power lines and the power line is still delayed for several months before work starts.
