I must admit that I don't know much about Lt-Gen Zaheer, but the fact that he had a strong recommendation by Zardari for the post does not fill me with confidence. Hopefully I am wrong. Because there can be no compromises made on Pakistan's security.

Zardari and Gilani were recommending General Pataudi not him I think. Apparently this is a good appointment. Let's see what happens in future.

u need not worry. he is very competent officer and a soldiers soldier.

Lt Gen Zahir already served in ISI as a Maj Gen. He is thus the more senior and experienced. You cannot simply promote a Maj Gen skipping an already available Lt Gen Zahir. I think this decision needed to be on experience and seniority, and it turned out to be. Good.

Good, the experience is important for the right position. I am hoping that Zahir-ul Islam will do something better job to protect Pakistan after terrible job by Pasha. We must demand Pasha to put him on trial to face punishment, we must know who is responsible to hide OBL near Military Academy undetected for so long, did Pakistan find anything some connection to Military officers and ISI.

Good selection. He deserved to be DG ISI. By face he looks like a strict, competent, brave and hardliner over its decisions but his sitting style, listening style, movements of hands and other body gestures shows a spy hidden in his personality. How he patriotic; depends over the fact why he was removed from ISI with promotion and professional career.

I don't think we have to send him to some contest. He is a professional soldier, he enjoys some very good repute amongst officers and men.

I don't think there is any need for Pasha to escape.
