Israel considers Banning Burka

I'm complaining on restricting the freedom to choose what to wear.

@ JEskandari

bro, it works both ways. Our culture teaches us that we must be modest. It's not an Islamic thing, but an Iranian thing. I, as a non-muslim, will never walk around an Iranian city without my shirt or short shorts (hypothetically). However I demand the right to be able to dress the way I want according to our own cultural teachings. Iranian culture is not just the extreme Islamic culture that the regime and a minority of our fellow countrymen practice. The regime is correct in regulating morality to an extent but they should not be pushing it like they are today. Current laws are idiotic and go against all Iranian teachings and values. Forcing a woman to cover her hair against her will or forcing a man not to wear certain types of tee shirts and shorts is simply idiotic. Every year the regime goes through hell to mandate these laws and it's only creataing hate. The regime is losing legitimacy over simple matters and change is overdue.

You say it's wrong to restrict people's ability to dress the way they want. We are being forced to dress the way we don't want.

Banning Burqa is not a good decision...rather than it make a strict law which protect womans. Wearing Burqa should be the woman own decision and she should not be forced to wear it. In most of the cases woman forced to wear burqa and they wear it because existing law not protect them.

. .
if you say Burqa is a security threat , then you must consider cosmetics as a security threat because heavy use of cosmetics and contact lenses also can fool any security guard ans systems .

.
Good decision by Israel.
When will India consider banning Burqa? We must hold a referendum.
I want a ban on all types of religious clothing.

Yes and you can ask also ask for ban on wearing all kind of clothing that covers any part of the body or does not reveal the body clearly to the public so that the public can have a sense of security.

I don't see the point of the burka. Is it for modesty? Yet I saw a woman wearing one on the street corner last week. The wind whipped her in such a way as to show the shapely body underneath perfectly.

So to me the purpose of the burka is to rob a woman of her identity as an individual - reducing her from a person to an object, a form of social pornography. I don't see why burkas shouldn't be regulated in some fashion.

.
In KSA, Iran, and other Islamic nations, women are harassed and beaten daily for immodesty according the strict Islamic laws over there.

Your ignorance is shining, tone it down a little :disagree:

Is the woman, which people look onto on the streets, and just pass-by, the one an object or the one wearing a miniskirt, where men pass by and lust after her shapely body? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the chick being lusted after is more of an object than the chick most people will ignore.
Rest is your opinion..

its because of recent belligerent islamic extremism that people now think of burka clad women or muslim attire wearing persons as secutity threat. noone would have bother before when things were calm. in a way its extremist mulsims making things difficult for all muslims. that said i dont think they should ban burka. this is their atttire. next what ban south asian clothings. if they gonna ban burka then ban skimpy dresses too. too much short skirts cause visual pollution.

i will add neither do i like burka clad women nor do i like women wearing biknis in public places. both are extremes.

I read somewhere " coercing a woman out of a burqa is not about liberating her, but unclothing her. coercing a woman out of a burqa is as bad as coercing her into one"...

.
Its just 1 of 120 Knesset members. Not going to happen in Israel.

Do it. Listen to him and get it done. I don't really see why you should be obliged to not do it especially when you stay in such a hostile environment. If safe countries like Belgium, France and Switzerland can do it, you've all the more reasons.

Besides, many women that don't dare to openly refuse a burqa wearing mandate by the males of their family, would get support from the law.

A double benefit for Israel.

The one with the miniskirt has a face and thus an identity, whereas the one in the burka has no identity; unlike the mini-skirted woman, to the passer-by the burka-clad can only be an object, is that not so?

Personally I'd rather respect a woman who I see is trying to be modest than a woman who is asking for it.

Also, I don't know if your a monk or what, but for most guys here in the UK, whenever they look at a chick wearing skirts etc, the first thing that comes to their mind is...well you know
They are unfortunately treated like objects. believe it or not

You don't have to dress in a burka to dress modestly. And if you can't control your urges around the woman you see and try to fondle her, she's within her rights to grab back and squeeze your balls off, isn't she?

.
Nope. One cannot exactly HIDE inside a turban and escape from the eyes of police forces.

You people have nice logic to club all communities and project numbers.

This, is a Sikh turban:

While This, is a burqa:

Now apply some grey matter and see which one poses a threat.

exactly how many terrorist attacks have ever taken place with a person with a burka? also Muslims women have been wearing these for centuries, why are they all of a sudden an issue now?

as far as the turban is concerned i guess some one could hide a small bomb in there......

For the one below you could fit a small miniaturised nuclear warhead in there LOL
